I'm back guys. I saw the new Avengers. I guess it's ok for what it is but it's not my kind of film. The villain was the only half-interesting character but he had the tired old "destroy the world to save it" motivation. I think they could've handled him better by making his personality seem like he wasn't just a basic ass evil bastard like every supervillain ever and that he actually had good intentions. Also the red guy was basically just Dr. Manhattan.

Other than it's just a superhero movie I guess.

An album based off the sounds of I Think I Can would be incredible. I Think I Can has the best structure out of any AnCo song IMO. By the time the last past of the song starts
>will I get to move on sooon
it's fuckin beautiful to my ears.
Also can you or anyone else rec more albums/artists similar to Hollinndagain? Like Racoo-oo-oon or This Heat?
also I think PBVSGR was severely underrated when it first came out but it seems like people are coming around to it. It is a bit meandering in that all of the songs sound thematically the same, but they're all gorgeous songs in their own right.

That It Won't Grow is about a stillborn child Avey and Angel suffered the loss of. Who feels me??

>> No.55732079

>>55731531
My favorite part of I Think I Can is definitely when that little twinkly part comes in on the second verse -- little things like that are what really make AnCo songs for me.

Man, I love PBVSGR, but those super meandering songs are my favorite type (I'm one of those people who thinks Daffy Duck is 10/10) so the album really did it for me, personally. There's actually a lot going on in the songs to differentiate them, but unfortunately some of that was lost in the bad mixing/ muddy production.

I've always sucked at recs, and I'm sure you've probably already heard Sun City Girls and early Black Dice/Eric Copeland, but those are the closest things to Hollinndagain that I know. Have you heard Thinking Fellers? If not check out Mother of All Saints, Lonelyville, and Wormed by Leonard. Maybe The Dead C for super harsh noise. If you like This Heat make sure you listen to Camberwell Now and The Work. Not really related to AnCo, but Odyshape by The Raincoats has some cool, weird instrumentation that you may appreciate (personally not a big fan of their s/t).

Panda played a concert tonight and I stayed around afterwards and met them. Panda was EXHAUSTED - he looked like he was about to pass out so I felt kinda bad for bugging him, but they were all very nice. I probably talked to Avey the most. There were so many things I would have done differently, I was kinda freaking out the first couple of minutes I talked to Avey and wasn't exactly ~calm and collected~

Some stuff of note:
Animal Collective : album definitely happening
Down There 2 and Slasher Flicks : He doesn't like to repeat himself, but "we'll see, maybe"
Asked where I was from, talked about Danny, Panda's performance, past times they've played NC. Mentioned how I got the Hollinndagain LE recently and he thought that was cool. He's pocket sized and very sweet. Took a picture with me and signed my ticket.

Danny was super nice and appreciative when I told him how great the visuals for Panda have been. I think he was surprised someone recognized him.

Panda was super tired but he still took a picture and signed my 7'' YCCOM. He thought it was neat that I had it and I told him it was one of my favorites and thanked him for playing it (he opened the concert with it). Mentioned that I'd be seeing him all three nights in NY ("oh wow, I'll try to change up the set lists for you") I also told him that the CTYS he did that night was one of the best he's ever done. After this guy took the picture Panda was said "Did it turn out okay?" and after he looked at it, he turned to me and said "Well you look good" (also he was lying we both look on the verge of death)

Sorry this is very long but I'm just

Forgot to mention something....At one point everyone was hovering around Panda and I was left alone with Avey, and I had no idea what to say as I had depleted my backlog of talking points, so I was kinda in panic mode. Luckily, I thought of these threads (I know....lol) and told Avey that "my friend" was in NZ and that AnCo should really go there next tour. Apparently he had forgotten that they had to cancel last time, but then he remembered after a bit. Hopefully he'll take the advice, anon

And if Panda didn't look so tired I would have definitely brought up the skateboard conspiracy and the candelabras/friendship bracelets product ideas, but I thought maybe another time would be better, lol. (Also he was wearing something different for a change. When he came out on stage I had to stop myself from saying "Holy Shit, he bought a new shirt!" out loud)

Oh yeah, Come to Your Senses was the track of the night (along with the 3 Tomboy songs) for me, although that's always been my favorite from the new album. He's gotten a lot better at playing it live - he used to do this kinda weird intro and sometimes he'd put the drop in awkward places, but it's been sounding on point lately.

The visuals were insane. We're pretty lucky because Eric Copeland filled in for Danny Perez and did the visuals for the April shows, and they weren't nearly as good to be honest. When I talked to Danny afterwards he said he added in a bunch of new stuff for these last few US dates.

Well I've never really been good at estimating these things, but I'm a little bit under 5'4 and in the picture you can see he's just a few inches taller than me. I would say no taller than 5'7, maybe 5'6 1/2? I'd guess Noah's around 5'8 or so.

I feel that the friendship amongst them is really important to how AnCo's music comes out, so it's always nice when they reference it directly in their songs, like in the ones >>55792646 mentioned and in Kids on Holiday.

Are there parts of songs that make you guys cringe sometimes?
The bridge type thing in meet the light child with Avey singing KITYKITYKITYKITY is kinda cringy but it doesn't ruin the song for me.

I feel bad, but I always kinda laugh when Avey hits that really high note in Bleed - it just sounds out of character for him, I guess.

Of course, there's that line in Fireworks.

I don't really care what avey jokingly said it was about one time, it's pretty clearly a love song

I've seen people estimate that
>Geo is 5'6"
>Avey is 5'7"~5'8"
>Panda is 5'8"~5'9"
>Deak is like 6'2"

Avey and Geo are Jewish so that slightly explains why they're short.

thats crazy that they are so short, they dont seem like it to me

I always thought that it was about the different kind of love that you feel for different people. I do think there are some references to a sort of platonic/brotherly love (Panda) and then the more overt romantic love (Kría). Just my interpretation.
