| >> | No.55732079 >>55731531 My favorite part of I Think I Can is definitely when that little twinkly part comes in on the second verse -- little things like that are what really make AnCo songs for me.
Man, I love PBVSGR, but those super meandering songs are my favorite type (I'm one of those people who thinks Daffy Duck is 10/10) so the album really did it for me, personally. There's actually a lot going on in the songs to differentiate them, but unfortunately some of that was lost in the bad mixing/ muddy production.
I've always sucked at recs, and I'm sure you've probably already heard Sun City Girls and early Black Dice/Eric Copeland, but those are the closest things to Hollinndagain that I know. Have you heard Thinking Fellers? If not check out Mother of All Saints, Lonelyville, and Wormed by Leonard. Maybe The Dead C for super harsh noise. If you like This Heat make sure you listen to Camberwell Now and The Work. Not really related to AnCo, but Odyshape by The Raincoats has some cool, weird instrumentation that you may appreciate (personally not a big fan of their s/t). |

Panda was EXHAUSTED - he looked like he was about to pass out so I felt kinda bad for bugging him, but they were all very nice. I probably talked to Avey the most. There were so many things I would have done differently, I was kinda freaking out the first couple of minutes I talked to Avey and wasn't exactly ~calm and collected~
Some stuff of note: Animal Collective : album definitely happening Down There 2 and Slasher Flicks : He doesn't like to repeat himself, but "we'll see, maybe" Asked where I was from, talked about Danny, Panda's performance, past times they've played NC. Mentioned how I got the Hollinndagain LE recently and he thought that was cool. He's pocket sized and very sweet. Took a picture with me and signed my ticket.
Danny was super nice and appreciative when I told him how great the visuals for Panda have been. I think he was surprised someone recognized him.
Panda was super tired but he still took a picture and signed my 7'' YCCOM. He thought it was neat that I had it and I told him it was one of my favorites and thanked him for playing it (he opened the concert with it). Mentioned that I'd be seeing him all three nights in NY ("oh wow, I'll try to change up the set lists for you") I also told him that the CTYS he did that night was one of the best he's ever done. After this guy took the picture Panda was said "Did it turn out okay?" and after he looked at it, he turned to me and said "Well you look good" (also he was lying we both look on the verge of death)
Sorry this is very long but I'm just |
