you shitposting goons Charlie Christian - The Genius of the Electric Guitar (1987)>swing, jazz Guitar based jazz (save for gypsy jazz) never ceases to disappoint me. I'm not even sure why this is a Charlie Christian compilation, because a lot of tracks don't have any guitar at all, and are just kinda lame swing tracks. The guitar work is really nice though, and its pleasant to listen to, but it's just standard jazz music, nothing special. 2.0+
Justino Figueiredo !nBHb87D.22
natkingcole !e/TFYR9PuA
Alison Krauss + Union Station - New Favorite (2001)>progressive bluegrass, contemporary folk Krauss' voice is really nice, and the instrumentation is pretty cool, but I can't take all the fucking cheesy adult contemporary flourishes, and whenever the dude sing the quality drops about tenfold. There are still some lovely melancholy tunes, like the opener and closer, but when it gets more upbeat and cheesy it just ain't good. I still do quite like it overall 2.5+ Ian Tyson - Cowboyography (1986)>cowboy It's a cute little album, but utterly worthless and boring as hell. Tyson does have a nice voice, but the melodies, harmonies, and instrumentation are just so typically country I can't stand it. And that synth, ugh. 0.5+ i take back country being my secret musical fetish help me

>Mohammad Hussain Sarahang - Уcтaд Moхaммaд Хocceйн Capaхaнг A very meditative, repetitive, at times, transcendental listen. Would recommend for fans of ambient and Asa-chang and Junray, as the drumming really reminded me of them. Dogwander !!DkmPyst8z1V
>>64966758 Well you have to take under consideration that I have been hyping up the track for so long. The lyrics were already known for years and all I expected it to be was a piano dirge (based off the small piano teases from the live shows) with a glorious string section.
When I first heard it, I thought that it sounded way too uplifting for the topic it discussed. The string sections were alright, but the only true element I really liked where the dissonant sections closer to the end. I thought it was ok but my expectations had me disappointed upon the first listen. I tried to take a sober look on it on the following listens and grew to like it a bit more because of how good of a pop song it is and Thom's performance during the chorus. Still not that big of a fan of the bass.
GIVINGBEAR !BEAR4k/wyw
>>64966834 I liked the ending too, the fact that it got so noisy and still garnered over 13 million views gave me a lot of hope because I didn't think it was possible for so many to like a song like this (though it is poppy so it's not a huge hope-restorer)

Do you even read this?>Seiko Oomori - Tokyo Black Hole Well this was kinda fun. I think i like her similarities with Shiina Ringo's music but a some points i just thought Shiina does it much better, at least in Shouso Strip. While there are some pretty good songs, i feel that most weren't that impressive i guess. Don't get me wrong, the songs aren't bad themselves but i guess they don't manage to be interesting, and more than not they feel repetitive. I think i might come back to this album, mainly Because there were some good songs but i feel like it was just decent, and that some other artists with the same schtick do it Better. If you belong to the first group, choose an appropriate music that helps you to calm down and yet won’t distract you from your practice. Some examples are sounds of nature (such as rain and ocean waves), traditional music (like native American flute music) as well as contemporary meditation music (Music for Healing by Steven Halpern comes to mind). The choice of music, or lack of, is entirely a matter of personal preference. So feel free to experiment and see what works best for you."

Jenny Hval - Apocalypse Girl God damn does she have an attractive voice the music's pretty good too I guess nah, but, this is a very well put together album all things considered, very intimate, like one gets the experience that she's speaking just to the listener and the listener alone, it's confessional and conversational at the same time Discordance Axis - The Inalienable Dreamless God damn This started off pretty weak, then it picked up in the middle, but on the second listen through it sagged once more as I realized that it was actually pretty shrill instead of that grunty feeling one gets when they listen to extreme metal, I still didn't outright hate it though The longer songs were probably the best and most developed here; they're this weird hybrid of Grindcore and technical death I reckon they'd actually make a pretty good tech death band, unfortunately it doesn't quite fly as grind Nails - Abandon All Life I had the opposite experience with this, this was pretty great, because it's a white hot flash of anger the long song in the middle was the worst but it's by no means bad, it's br00tal as fvck whate next

The problem is that the union is really, really strict when it comes what money can and can't be spent on, and I can tell for a fact that people from the union board will be attending. The fact that I'll be on the board next year, and am chairman for our section this year really means I can't approve of something like that. However, pharmaceutical companies are indeed especially ruthless when it comes to maximizing total profit to generate the most value, simply because they can. Their customers' demand is nearly completely inelastic, so they can raise the prices to whatever they want before marginal unit profit even approaches zero. Thanks to healthcare systems in most developed countries, this is not a huge burden on the patients themselves, but on the healthcare system as a whole, and it is still financially toxic for most countries.
I'm not entirely sure how pharmaceutical companies behave across the pond, but that's the situation here in the US. I assume that unless the pharmaceutical companies are state-run over there (as if they haven't already been bought out in US corporate inversions to further maximize the profits of US companies), they likely engage similar profit-maximizing practices.
>http://www.wsj.com/articles/pharmaceutical-companies-buy-rivals-drugs-then-jack-up-the-prices-1430096431 TL,DR: Pharma is not interested in people as much as profits
hampus
>>64975118 Yeah, they are engaged in profits. However maximizing profits would be the opposite of what you'd do by withholding proper medicines. I agree that big pharma has a lot of bad business praxis (especially when it comes to pricing of drugs, particularly in poorer countries), but these people are more in the "big pharma is trying to poison everyone into needing more drugs and homeopathy is the real cure to everything" camp.

>>64975160 Yeah, should have clarified. Everything else on that list except the "big pharma is withholding medication" bit is total bullshit.
Even the phrasing of "withholding medication" is iffy, but technically, assuming fewer people will buy a product as price rises, by raising prices, pharmaceutical companies are intentionally making drugs unavailable to those who need them. If anybody working at any of these companies had even taken a semester of intro micro econ, they should be maximizing price until the number of customers they lose with each dollar increase outweighs the money they make with each unit sold (AKA, subsequent marginal profits < 0). This is obviously not the intention, but a side-effect. If they could make money at the same profit-maximized rate while everyone who needed the medication got it, they'd totally be doing that.
>but these people are more in the "big pharma is trying to poison everyone into needing more drugs and homeopathy is the real cure to everything" camp. Totally. I was just worried that if a crazy person said one vaguely true thing in a long list of crazy, people would immediately dismiss it as just as crazy as the rest. Unfortunately there is some bit of truth in that one line, even if the way she meant it wasn't even vaguely true.

He's oldschool as fuck and doesn't use the internet for pricing, just throws a price on it 'based on the last price it sold for'
This means if he gets rare or unique albums he usually just puts $10 price tag on it.
He told me he'd send me an email every time he gets new stuff in and give me first pick :)
Last week some crazy musician dude dropped off a bunch of free-improv and african rhythm stuff and I picked up pic related

sweet, first pan on the chart!>brave little abacus - just got back from discomfort, we're alright the first two songs are a complete fucking disaster. one of the worst singing voices my ears have ever heard, the instrumentation is messy and all over the place, and the mixing is disastrous. the next 3 songs are a little more of the same but much better quality, and i found them quite passable for a midwest emo album. after that, we go back into the shitter, but in a different way. the rest of the songs just become your usual regular time and f major emo songs. they all feel exactly the same so there's no point in listening to more than one of them. bug infested floorboards has some interesting vocals, but that's the only highlight in the second half of the album. holy shit that guys voice is worse than the blink-182 guy

Bone Awl/The Rita - Bone Awl/The Rita [2006]>harsh noise wall, black metal A split cassette between noise maker The Rita and black metal band Bone Awl. More than a fifty-fifty equal split between the two, it's the rita that has most control, as the record is structured as an harsh wall with distorted, barely distinguishable black metal sections that come in waves under the noise. The formula makes Bone Awl's parts more exciting, while still giving time to recover after they end. On rita's side, the sound is dirty but at the same time smooth and pleasing, and I'll tell you something: watching the oscilloscope while playing this is fun as fuck. Heavy, violent experience, it spins you around and makes you dizzy. 6

>Kalk Samen Kuri no Hana - Shiina Ringo After listening to Tokyo Black Hole and going back to Shiina, i'm reminded how i like my artsy poppy Japanese music. But, i have to say that i'm mildly dissapointed. To be seriously honest, i was expecting this album to be better than Shouso Strip. But, a lot of the things that made Shouso so great weren't present here. For example, i feel the songs didn't have a songwriting as engaging as in SS, the guitars didn't have that Special touch and her sound, while adding new things to The mix, wasn't near as good or unique as in her previous album. But, this album had some amazing songs. While SS had a lot of electronic elements in it, Semen kind of tones it Down, letting her music sound a bit more organic. The noisey parts were noisier than in SS and since i loved the Orchestral parts on that album, i was pleased to see them even more here. Overall, it's a quite nice Little album, and i have yet to listen to her newer records, but it's dissapointing in a lot of aspects, even more when compared to SS (i'll give it another try later but for now this is how i feel). Final Score: 6/10 SCHEDULE>Tomorrow : Sterolab - Loops and Dots >Friday: Animal Collective - Feels >Saturday: Revolutionary Pekinese* Opera* - V 1.28 If i get rejected >David Murray Quartet - A Sanctuary Within If i get the Girl/ don't even try>The Spent Poets - s/t

>>64975118 >TL,DR: Pharma is not interested in people as much as profits Can we just take a minute to note the only reason "big pharma" is able to hike prices like this is that they drug patents are protected by law. Other companies can not produce cheaper variants of specific drugs as the patents are owned by specific companies, and smaller companies don't have the legal departments to protect them from the lawsuit hammer. These drugs, in many cases, cost literally pennies to produce.
This is an issue of government corruption more than it is an issue of economy.

Patent law I am no expert in, and it's currently a very troubled field of business law in general, with drug companies, patent trolls, patent-less devices like the overboard, and Disney. I expect this will be a bigger issue in the US in the coming years.
That being said, drug patents do expire much more quickly than other intellectual patents iirc, hence generics.

2 more albums, hooray, hoepfully I can keep up with that pace This morning I listened to Blondie's album, which had some nice moments, but overall I didn't like her vocal style too much. Also the guitar sounds so retro it hurts. Secondly I listened to Your Mom's Favorite DJ, which apparently is Kid Koala Reasonable choice actually, this album is full of joy and enertainment, alot of really good ideas, excecuted well. This almost got a pink rating, if I didn't have one issue with it. On some parts the album plays with the channels and only playing in one of them, or playing different things in left and right one. And this is somethign that completely fucks me up. I have no idea why, but it literally hurts my ears, it's so increadle unpleasant I have to lower the volume to a minimum. But that's just some weird stuff going on with me, not really the albums fault. Also the "hidden" track thing was really unnecessary, along with the third track. Still a good album, green'd
