>>64672691 Don't intro into Braxton with his 90's stuff, I'd replace that with Dortmund (1976) Quintet if you want to stick with quartets, or Conference of the Birds if you want a more traditional (but still experimental) jazz album with Braxton.
Or if you want a challenging listen go For Alto (1969)

Billy Bragg & Wilco - Mermaid Avenue (1998)>alt-country, americana, folk rock A collection of songs written by Woody Guthrie that Billy Bragg carries a lot better than Jeff Tweedy. To paraphrase an RYM review, Tweedy is just to soft and wishy-washy to carry these jaunty, passionate songs, while Bragg does them justice. The slow burners are the best songs here, full of passion, but the faster songs grate a bit, and it loses a lot of steam in its second half. Uneven, but mostly solid and with high highs. 2.5+

>Coil - Black Antlers [yamir] I loved the more instrumental and laid back parts of Ape of Naples, so seeing how everybody described this I should have loved it. But, while it's good and I'll relisten a bunch, it's significantly weaker. The Gimp is cool, but maybe I would've preferred a shorter intro. Sex with Sun Ra is maybe the worst on the record, but it's fine because after it things start picking up. The cover of All The Pretty Little Horses is stunning, I already loved teenage lightning so i liked this version too (prefer the AoN one more though), and Black Antlers is a great closer. Weak start, but I can get down with the record. 3.0 [WINNER]>Do Make Say Think - You, You're an History in Rust [Thomas] Ok so: I like post rock, but when it doesn't really stick to the same structure on every piece, which happens very much in the post rock world. I was surprised by the first two songs, grandious and very pleasing, but the rest is basically what those two did stripped down and somewhat more boring. I liked the last minute of the album (surprising noise pop) but everything else was pretty underwhelming and predictable. 2.0+ I must really laud thomas though because fucck if his two previous recs weren't amazing. Yo La Tengo grew up to 4.5 too! Misha, Yamir and FlyingIceWizard have to rec me something (◠‿◠)

Some of the songs are too weird and bad though. Maybe it will grow on me. 7/10>Smoke - Another Reason to Fast Nice! This album has a great momentum. The dramatic combination of the trumpet, the cello and Smoke's voice really gets me. That trumpet wew. 8/10>Grouper - A I A: Alien Observer More ambient than Dragging, more lo-fi and even more beautiful. Listening to this, nothing around matters anymore. Can you get more comfy and intimate than this? 8/10 Any suggestion on what to do next?

Others>James Blake - The Colour in Anything I really enjoyed this for about 45 minutes then started to get bored. This is probably his best release so far. >Roman Diaz - L'o fun da Bata Some nicely done Nigerian trad - the female choirs are excellent. Well worth the time Tzadik New Japan These continue to be very good. Both Sachi Hayasaka and especially the Satoko Fujii releases are very good jazz. Even the safer tracks like Lotus Flower really go all in with the loops and homogeneity throughout, which makes it really off-putting for a lot of people, and I think that's why it received so much trashing. People wanted more rock jams and instead got a mash up of krautrock like electronica.

Overall it is definintely the best I've heard from Burzum so far, the black metal is raw and kvlt as fvck, and the ambient closing piece is actually really quite nice. The major issue here is the black metal is actually a bit corny, I can't get behind the vocals at all, and the riffs aren't some of Burzy's best. But the consistency is this album's main draw, and it's certainly still quite good. 3.0-

New Radiohead was nice btw. Nothing super stellar or memorable, but nice enough the whole way through. Most songs sounded very baroque pop, albeit with electronic effects in lieu of traditional instrumentation. Also, Thom's wailing and whining is getting pretty old imo. Definitely better than TKOL, but that's a pretty low bar. I'll give it another go tomorrow.

Radiohead - A Moon Shaped Pool (2016)>chamber pop, art pop, art rock Yeah, it lived up to the hype. Probably my favorite of their's since Amnesiac, and I actually like TKoL a fair bit. It does the In Rainbows style of really ethereal, dreamy stringy songs, but it does it /so/ much better. The arrangements are a lot more fleshed out and it sounds a lot less like Coldplay. But these dreamier songs are honestly the least interesting tracks, it's more energetic tracks like "Ful Stop" and "Identikit" that really get my attention ("Ful Stop" in particular, that's definitely gonna work it's way into being one of my favorite RH songs), and the first studio recording of "True Love Waits" is stunningly beautiful. There's definitely an issue with facelessness, and a lot of the tracks blend together, "Desert Island Disk" and "Tinker Tailor Soldier Sailor Rich Man Poor Man Beggar Man Thief" don't really go anywhere and are obvious low points here. And I'm still not /too/ big on the singles, but "Daydreaming" has grown on me a lot more than "Burn the Witch". Overall, worth the wait! Honestly could work its way into being one of my favorites by them, but then again I don't really hold their discography in /that/ high of a regard save for Kid A and Amnesiac. 3.0

Okay everything on the website should be updated now. Is there a new schedule for listenalongs? If so can someone give it to me purty please? Also if there's anything you that you think should be added to / changed about the site, let me know.

>Nuno Canavarro - Plux Quba Really pretty tape manipulation and sound collage stuff. Also I finally realized why that Prefuse 73 song is called Nuno. Tourney shit: >Allman Brothers Band - Eat a Peach Folkish ‘60s/‘70s type rock in the vein of Creedence or The Dead’s cleaner studio stuff. It’s fine I guess, but a little plain for my tastes. >The Gories - House Rockin’ Little bit garage rock, little bit no wave. Noisy, heavy, and fun overall. Probably won’t get any relistens though. Darklands advances. Wait does he still post here?
