There are people who like hip hop but don't give grime a chance?

this album is pretty good, i bought it. i'm excited for more grime albums through this year and the next, wiley has put out more grime material, id love him to put out a great album now.
anyone know any new mc's that arent novelist, stormzy or bugzy malone?

Yeah it is, jme and skepta are killing it this year
Grime is mostly hyped up singles and the artists are basic London roadmen who drive around estates and smoke weed in their cars
They're not really celebrities and they have no labels

>> No.55711000

>>55710927
yep thats the problem with a genre based on raves and pirate radio, singles only get you so far. but this new hype around it is pretty exciting, i'm hoping for more good music, grime has a lot to give even if it didnt reach its potential last time

i was thinking of doing dusty post-dilla grime beats, 140bpm, nice sample chops, etc. i know a few mcs too, i might get them to spit on some

Yeah I hope a few more experimental grime MCs and producers jump into the scene. The thing that sets it apart from hip-hop is it all sounds so similar both sonically and lyrically. If a couple young MCs pop out of nowhere, make some kinda beats we've never heard before (while still keeping it grimey), and spit about shit other than road all the time, the genre could blow.

This geography only works if middle classic Brits take up a failing USA genre like what happened with techno.

If you seriously think any of these dumbasses will make stuff that is still remembered fondly in 20 years you're kidding yourself. It needs to be remotely intelligent like Burial was (whether you like him or not he's the most critically respected thing to come out of this UK scene)
