Imagine if you were Herr Barockter, alias and nobleman, son of son of sky, and of scion. Part of his rich inheritance, parceled and generous divorce, sentence forthwith, beingcertain blocks of land and living quarters deemed by all gentlemen and wives thereof to be grossly humane and frankly, quite un-dirty.

THIS GUY'S A FUCKIN DICK
I'm dressed for successBut success it never comes...
Does Stephen Malkmus have the best lyrics of all time? They make no sense but I feel like I completely understand them.
Zurich is stained and it's not my fault

>>55701093WE WANT TWO STATES
Just got into Pavement about a month ago. Currently on Terror Twilight. I like it pretty well and wish they'd continued but oh well.
>>55700555and i'm the only one who laughsat your jokes when they're so badand the jokes are always bad
>>55701293Not nearly as good as Pavement, but the Jicks are okay. Have you listened to Silver Jews?
>>55701320I tried their first album half-heartedly and wasn't hooked. Are they worth a solid go?
>>55701359I definitely think they are, but yeah, they weren't as "instant" for me
got damn i love this band :')
WALL PAYPAH
>>55700380Remember when Billy Corgan called Pavement the death of the indie dream? I'm still fucking confused over that
>>55701359I originally only gave them a 4/5 on rym but i've since bumped it up to 5/5
>>55701474Billy Corgan being a butthurt little douche :)
>>55701505He went on a crusade against them and got them kicked out of Lollapalooza all because of one lyric that was barely an insult and meanwhile never made a record as good as Crooked Rain
>>55700726>Does Stephen Malkmus have the best lyrics of all time? No. He's very good at what he does though. Distinct and oddly memorable. He'd be good at writing children's songs.
stop breathin
>>55701320I think Malkmus was a better songwriter in Pavement but better guitarist in the JicksSome great guitar work in Jicks albums>>55700726Yeah the lyrics are non-sensical seeming but are great
oh boy here we go
>>55701628Huh, neat observation about the guitar work. I'll have to give those albums a re-listen as it's been a while.
KOREA KOREA KOREA KOREA KOREA KOREA KOREA KOREA
Today is the greatest
>>55701624inb4 someone calls pavement childrens music
was watching one of their music videos after seeing this thread.thought it would be interesting to read the youtube comments, in which i found a discussion about the definition of "hipsters" which lead to my decision to kill myself.
>>55701359if yr talking jicks, try listening to Face the Truth or maybe Mirror Traffic (though Real Emotional Trash was my first Jicks album, so maybe try that instead)if yr talking Joos, listen to American Water right now. Malk's guitar + Berman's lyrics + the occasional interplay between their two vocals make for an incredible album The Wild Kindness is heart-breaking>>55701474remember when pavement covered the smashing pumpkins https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eR9aRK2HdNc
>>55701628>I think Malkmus was a better songwriter in PavementPavement has a certain energy to it, and a kind of young lust for success and creativity that his stuff with the Jicks doesn't match, but I'd say on the whole he's become a better craftsman in every regard, not just as a guitar player.I think he's as good a songwriter now in terms of sheer skill as he's ever been.
>>55701669https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PjvRTO-SfjoThis song has pretty gr8 guitar work if a bit reminiscent of Neil Young
>>55701716I wish he'd bring the 'stache back. And I sincerely hope Berman still has his and keeps it for the rest of his life.
>>55702048unless he's shaved it since january, he probably still has it.it's hard to imagine him without it, at this point
>>55701685>"hipsters">quoteshipsters exist you hipster
>>55702092damn, he looks awful
>>55702130Berman? eh. he looks fine, especially as a former addict in his fortieshis hair's just a bit messy and receding as it has been for years
so is the reunion happening?i know bob's been putting in work lately, what with that facebook page and allplus we still haven't gotten that "big announcement" they mentioned............
>>55702482it's probably a terror twilight reissue
>>55702482I'm not sure where they're at on it. Malkmus hasn't said anything, and I know in recent months Malkmus has shot down the suggestion. And I can see why he would. I don't think he cares much about money and he's got a good thing going with the Jicks. If I were him I probably wouldn't do it. And, as a fan, I don't really care if they do. I wouldn't mind, I guess, but I can empathize with Malkmus's trepidation.
>>55702564I didn't feel like the 2010 one went all that wellThey were way out of sync, timing was all off
>>55702564wordi would understand if he didn't want to do it, especially without doing another album because that would be kind of a cop out....although steve seems to have a lot of fun when he does pavement songs with the jickshttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=koXUrHcWY4k
>>55702643https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E_TNhOeThsgLike here Steve starts a bit before the drummer was ready
>>55702669He does look like he's having a lot of fun don't he
