>you will never be this talented >everthe only true talent I've seen in power metal and it's astonishing. I don't think I've ever been this impressed with a metal band's playing skill and performance as much as this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uo10HFEfRo4
lol wtf is this weebshit
Just looking at the thumbnail for this video, I know not to watch it.
>8:06Jesus christ that's Tschaikovsky. Colour me impressed.
>>55682582the jap power metal scene is leagues better than the euro and american scene only because the japs treat it like a competition rather than for fun. some jap power metal musicians are actually on par with a lot of classical musicians just because they're working their asses off to one-up other bands.>inb4 some faggot misinterprets this as "metal is the new classical xD"
>>55682658>Implying technical skill is the same as quality>Implying there will ever be power metal with more emotional nuance than Arch-era Fates Warning.>Implying power metal is bad
>power metal
>>55682706Never said power metal was bad, but this the only time I'm actually impressed and admired the musicianship a power metal band.
>>55682739You'll grow out of your too cool for power metal phase one day anon.>>55682743Oh, okay, fair enough. To be honest, most power metal bands tend to have pretty good musicianship when examined from a rock music standpoint, but when examined on an absolute scale (i.e. one that includes classical and jazz) they're far outclassed. Anyway, I don't give a fuck about technical skill. Blind Guardian are fun as fuck.
>>55682501>>55682553It's crazy how they have the budget for this.Guitarist is a good shredder, but that's standard for the genre. Here's another long, classical-inspired power metal song that has much more interesting composition. I'm pretty sure the orchestra on this is software but it's also able to have a lot more instruments as a result. Power metal is oozing with talent but the creativity is usually severely limited to keep in line with the aesthetic, which is why I don't ever really check out power metal bands. This is a classic from when I was new to the genre though, and it's still impressive. If anyone knows any similar prog-power metal bands like this recommend me please. I'm not brave enough to sift through it all.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uxCGgcX3wfA
>>55682839I realized that comment might sound kind of derisive but the song you posted was totally cool.
>>55682839>It's crazy how they have the budget for this.apparently power metal in japan is fucking huge, some of the top selling groups in japan are power metal apparently and actually get played on radios.i heard somewhere were the japanese consider neoclassical power metal the evolution of classical or some stupid shit, so it's not really a surprise that they have a massive budget
>>55682879That and record labels in Japan actually seem to care and people buy music. I feel like lo-fi and DIY being so prominent in the U.S is kind of an indication of the disillusionment with a label's ability to finance anything not completely pandering to the (largest) masses. Power metal on the radio is making my weeb gauge peak. The coolest thing on the radio at any given time here is (probably old) jazz, and that's not even always on.
