Alright /mu/, i'm a total newfag to jazz.
Please tell me what your favorite jazz albums are.
I don't give a shit if they're known, if they're not, if they're pleb, if they're patrician.
Just rec me your favorite jazz album.
Pic related, i got it recently, i loved it, probably pleb, but i don't particularly care

it's not pleb
listen to In A Silent Way next, then move on to Bitches Brew, it's babbies first fusion jazz record and you'll probably love it

>> No.55665490

I'm a newfag to jazz too. I love Big Band. I know Nat King Cole had a jazz trio that was pretty good before he started singing.

Well you're off to a good start.

What was your favorite track from KoB? Who was your favorite soloist? What did you want more or less of?

>> No.55665538

Don Cherry - "mu" First Part
Charles Mingus - Let My Children Hear Music
The Ornette Coleman Quartet - This Is Our Music
The John Coltrane Quartet - Africa/Brass

Not in the slightest, you should listen to another album of his called Ascenseur pour l'echafaud, especially the first song called generique is amazing.

Favorite track was So What, not sure about the soloist, and i want more of the relaxing atmosphere, there's just something about that album that makes me feel alone and somewhat observant, kinda like a praying mantis calmly waiting for his prey.
This is all subjective, but if you could recommend me albums that give off the same of feel to you, i'd appreciate it.

Got Chet, by Chet Baker in a sharethread few weeks ago. First jazz album I really listened by myself and loved it. Very slow, melodic, quiet, really enjoy it.

Water babies is forgotten and underrated. Its leftovers so everybody thinks its not worth listening but its the best kept secret. Such phrases and movements.
