Phil consistently refers back to the island of Mount Erie, where he has said he spent much of his time when he was younger. A recurring theme early in the album is that Phil is remembering all the good times he had there, how much he loved it, and returning to it now, that warmth, that "glow", is gone; the Moon in particular voices that melancholy.
So in a way, that anon was kind of right. Part of the album is indeed Phil realizing there's much more than the glow he's lost, but a good part of is that memory of the past.
It's more apparent in Mount Eerie, but the Glow, Pt. 2 also makes a big deal out of how tiny and insignificant your problems, your feelings, your life really is in the face of nature and the universe. It doesn't matter if your glow is gone, it doesn't matter if you die, it'll still be there.
