What's with all these pop punk bands turning into shoegaze/post-punk bands?

>> No.55458893

>>55458840
why are these shitty genres getting such a bland revival?

>> No.55458916

>shoegaze/post-punk
2010s indie acts need to stop aping these two genres, all they end up doing is watering down both

>> No.55458948

People influenced by a specific genre are never as good as the artists who originally created it. Most "revivals" are thus a shallow imitation and/or a deviation from what the music was about.

This is true at least of most I've seen, from nugaze to post-punk revival to retro thrash.

which bands that began as pop-punk turned to shoegaze/post-punk? genuinely curious.

I honest don't see the problem with bands such as these trying to expand their sound, the problem though most of them end up sounding like shit. Example title fight

I've honestly never heard of them. I'm fan of post-punk you see, that's why I wanted to know.

So they played pop before, and now they play pop with more reverb? What's the big deal?

I guess they discovered their dad's U2 records.

>> No.55459214

all these bands probably would've been metalcore bands 7ish years ago

>> No.55459273

>>55459214
yeah in my city all the kids who used to be in metalcore bands during high school are now in folk bands because that's the trend here now

>> No.55459870

>>55459273
yeah the kids near me are all still in the pop punk phase but I'm sure that whole indie folk thing is coming soon
