What's with all these pop punk bands turning into shoegaze/post-punk bands?

People influenced by a specific genre are never as good as the artists who originally created it. Most "revivals" are thus a shallow imitation and/or a deviation from what the music was about.

This is true at least of most I've seen, from nugaze to post-punk revival to retro thrash.

I honest don't see the problem with bands such as these trying to expand their sound, the problem though most of them end up sounding like shit. Example title fight
