I'm looking for gentle music that isn't going to try to fill me with awful messages, but is still conscious of the uncertainty of life. Something passive that doesn't deliver any extremely moving emotions, just something to get pleasantly lost in it's subtle complexities.

Not entirely certain of what's meant by "awful messages" but I don't believe this crosses that boundary by any measurable standard.

I just mean nothing that tries to make me feel distressed. Like I dunno, some heartbreaking album, something with really nihilistic messages or something, something that sounds really bleak as though it was trying to send that kind of emotion to the listener. The Gas - Pop album is very good. I was just listening to Ambient 1 by Brian Eno and that was good, I don't think Another Green World is passive enough, but it's still a very good album that I listen to.

I don't know if this kind of music is passive enough for you, but it's certainly not going to fill you with a sense of nihilism. Musically, the woodwinds/brass might be jarring to you, but I dunno.

smalin makes great stuff. I've been going to his channel for years, I love this song in particular. I could never really get into classical music though, a lot of it sounds kind of melodramatic. Chopin is pretty good though.
