why would you want to ride a bike that you have to be pedaling 100% of the time on??

that bike is pretty cool though

Sufjan is in love with Jesus in every way.

riding a fixed gear isnt hard at all, you must be really out of shape and fat. I'm 230 and I ride mine just fine.

>> No.55384531

>>55384437
it's good if you're a courier because you can stop/take off again multiple times without messing with gears. or if you're an actual cyclist and take it to like a fucking velodrome to train, it's good too.

i had one and hated it. i ride a 10 speed now.

>> No.55384659

>>55384488
that doesn't make any sense and gears are not even not what i'm talking about. I'm out of shape because I want to use a handbrake and coast? you weigh 90 more pounds than me man chill your shit

>>55384531
That's cool. I feel like you would have the same advantages on a single speed though.

>That's cool. I feel like you would have the same advantages on a single speed though.
oops yeah that's actually what i had. forgot to clarify that. it was a single speed. there was no way i was even trying a bike where i couldn't coast down a hill without it being ridiculous.

>> No.55384838

>>55384716
nice. I get what you're saying, i just recently got a single speed and it's amazing how much lighter it is, courier must have been a good gig.

yeah those are pretty terrifying--fixies are getting big on my campus and it nerve wracking to watch them go down any sort of incline

A common fixie and a track bike aren't really the same deal

Inclines aren't that difficult, I usually push back on the pedals if I feel like I'm going to fast. I have a smaller gear ratio that makes it good for city riding and some hills, but i've recently re geared to a 13/50.

Sufjan isn't the only Indie Rocker who likes to cycle...
Here's David Byrne with a bike rack he designed.
