i have a very serious problem, and i mean it.
when i try to study, i can't concentrate enough because the music is distracting me.
ambient doesn't help, there's still too much happening there or if there isn't, i get bored and therefore annoyed very quickly.
when i try to study without music, i get angry because i could be listening to something and i feel like wasting my time or whatever.
any help?
what do you listen to while studying or working?

If I'm listening to music I've never heard before while studying, it either distracts me or I tune it out completely so it may as well not even be there. I also find there's just certain kinds of music I can work better while listening to. For example, in high school I discovered I was able to work very well to the Green Day album Dookie. I have no idea why, it's not by any means my favourite album or even one of my top favourite, but something about the way it sounded and how catchy the songs were made me able to do work and study without being distracted but still enjoy the music. So it was probably one of my most played albums in high school for that reason. OP, have you tried listening to catchy, simple music that you enjoy and are very familiar with? That might help, it helped me. On the complete opposite side, you could try harsh noise music, like Merzbow. I find that kind of music works well for me when studying because of the lack of patterns in it that can be followed along with but still being interesting enough to hear that I don't get bored. But I guess it depends if you're into that kind of stuff. You could try it. Good luck with your studying, OP. |
