i have a very serious problem, and i mean it.

when i try to study, i can't concentrate enough because the music is distracting me.
ambient doesn't help, there's still too much happening there or if there isn't, i get bored and therefore annoyed very quickly.
when i try to study without music, i get angry because i could be listening to something and i feel like wasting my time or whatever.

any help?
what do you listen to while studying or working?

I don't. 100% of my attention should be focus on my work and not getting distracted even if the music is just playing in the background.

Man that news story is fucked up. There are parents out there who saw that and immediately made a rule to prevent their kid from listening to music while doing homework. That shit used to help me get through the drudgery and really actually helped me work better, and now there are kids getting fucked over because of bullshit local news

I do listen to music, but its usually music that I know, and I have like 50 plays on multiple albums because of it. Just put something on that wouldn't force you to sing along but you know very well.

Also ambiance really works for me, but to be honest I can't study without music. The noise helps me concentrate.

listen to music while I study*

>> No.55359355

i usually do, and it usually helps me concentrate (in that im not distracted by other noises and it makes me less bored and restless) but it can be hard to find the right music for whatever im doing. i also usually listen to stuff i know quite well
im having the same issue right now though. obviously the music isnt working, because im here, and not working on the essay (in a way its justified because the essay is about music. well, thats how im justifying it to myself anyway)

I find this also very much helps with the music being less distracting but still enjoyable. If I'm listening to music I've never heard before while studying, it either distracts me or I tune it out completely so it may as well not even be there.
I also find there's just certain kinds of music I can work better while listening to. For example, in high school I discovered I was able to work very well to the Green Day album Dookie. I have no idea why, it's not by any means my favourite album or even one of my top favourite, but something about the way it sounded and how catchy the songs were made me able to do work and study without being distracted but still enjoy the music. So it was probably one of my most played albums in high school for that reason.
OP, have you tried listening to catchy, simple music that you enjoy and are very familiar with? That might help, it helped me. On the complete opposite side, you could try harsh noise music, like Merzbow. I find that kind of music works well for me when studying because of the lack of patterns in it that can be followed along with but still being interesting enough to hear that I don't get bored. But I guess it depends if you're into that kind of stuff. You could try it. Good luck with your studying, OP.

I can't study nor concentrate normally if I'm not listening to music. Seriously.

>> No.55360080

I can never listen to anything if I'm seriously trying to get something done. It completely breaks my concentration.

>> No.55360976

I think it depends on the person. I'm an avid multitasker, I'll be reading some shit for school, cooking with music playing. Some people are just better than others ;D
