Seriously though, what went wrong?
Millionaires complaining that they didn't have enough money
A bunch of millionaires complained about not having enough money
>>55330420Streaming services aren't a big thing anymore.
No market for it.
>>55330420Nobody really gives a shit about high quality audio except people who already know why they shouldn't use Tidal
>>55330451>>55330452>consecutive post numbersayyyyyyy
>>55330420it's a clone of other services that do the same thing better and for cheapernobody cares about lossless audio except autiststhe only redeeming aspect was that artists get more royalties, and they advertised that in the worst way possible
>>55330494Plus, most already have their FLAC collections downloaded already.
>>55330420>rich musicians whining about not making enough money and expecting people to care>no "free with ads" option at launch date>forced to pay $20 per month if you want 320 kbps, free with ads option only gives streaming for 96 kbps files >Spotify already has better free with pay sound quality and costs half as much for 320 kbps subscription, almost all music anyone could want in its catalog, and a free app with millions of downloads. Convincing people to give up on it is an uphill battle>PiracyWhat's so hard to understand?
>>55330420rap man realized there were already older apps doing the same job and that his has nothing better to offer
Pretty sure they were thinking something to the tune of "We have all of these household names behind this, it's impossible for it to fail"Now they're probably realizing that you can't force people to like something, and that $25 - $30 a month isn't going to work with most people.I am pretty sure Jay thinks a loaf of bread costs $500
They're also probably realizing that they don't exclusively own the FLAC file. FLAC is everywhere, people have had free access to this type of thing on the internet for years.
>WHAAAAAAA FUCK RICH PEOPLE THAT MAKE MUSIC>I WILL ONLY GIVE MY MONEY TO SONY, UNIVERSAL & WARNER ie people are too stupid to look at things beyond surface level
>>55330420Because its expensive and we already have well established, perfectly working alternatives.
>>55330451>Millionaires complaining that they didn't have enough moneylearn about how big labels contracts work.PS:I am not defending defending them, I hate them more as you ever will
>>55330494>who already know why they shouldn't use Tidalalmost every hiquality fag is a pleb
>>55330661b8
>artists dont receive enought money>pandora almost going out of business (even after counting the fact they are only on usa and so will reduce their userbase and so the amount of money they have to pa for artists)>even with that "small" amount of money they pay>expect to survive
>>55330420This flop is absolutely hysterical. I'm still embarrassed so many of my faves thought this would work. Just hours to show how detached from reality famous people really are. Are any of them other than Jay even still mentioning this mess?
well who actually expected it to work? there's hardly a market for a streaming service that is more expensive and isn't better in many ways. charging almost twice the money attempting to attract users with audio quality isn't going to cut it since majority of people use crappy earphones anyways.this was just a scheme for artists to get more revenue for their music. sure, it's revenue they should've gotten in the first place had people stopped pirating their music. but how much money do you need? the music industry certainly isn't going anywhere. labels and artists are getting richer and richer everyday. indie artists seem to be doing just fine on Spotify (at least we haven't heard anything from them yet probably cuz their voices are not being heard).the fact that they marketed it in such a fake yet transparent way is almost maddening. getting yourself more money isn't going to change the music industry. 80% of the music put out is crap even though the artist and label seem to think it's better.
i literally dont understand how anyone involved thought any human being was willing to buy into this especially when spotify already exists
>>55331358its owned by major record labels.
>>55330420No free option.
>>55330420It is inferior to spotify in almost every way, it's honestly mind boggling how they thought it could ever be successful
>>55330814I remember Daft Punk changed they're facbook icon to >>55330420 at like 3AM its announcement night, then changed it right back next morning.
