Hey let's discuss post-rock once again.

AOTYSF?
Upcoming releases, shows?
Any shares?
Favorite band, why?

Let's spread the love.

Admittedly I haven't really listened intently to post-rock releases this year but so far GY!BE's new album has impressed me.

Either that or The Living Sleep's Remnants, which is also incredible.

Going to start listening to Talk Talk from their earliest record. Sounds 80s as fuck so far.

Nothing else is happening.

It's sunny at the moment. Can anyone rec some uplifting and summery post-rock, in the vein of EITS The World Is Not A Cold, Dead Place or Take Care, Take Care, Take Care?

something I can drive to.

I've been listening to The Evpatoria Report a lot recently. Also I really liked MI Media Naranja, what is some other really chill/ambient-like post rock?

This Will Destroy You's self titled, Mi Media Narnja by Labradford and TNT by Tortoise.

This album was a huge disappointment to me. I feel like every Godspeed album has a had a different vibe from all of their other releases until this one. This just feels like another Allelujah. That said I did like Allelujah.

I don't see where you think it's like Allelujah. I feel like it's a lot edgier than that. I like how they avoided using crescendos and just brought out a load of riffs and progressions and worked them raw. It sounded amazing live too. The new stuff sounds awesome and totally different as well. Much more tightly wound melodies and rhythms, should be really enjoyable to listen to.

I have TWDY's self titled, I'll get the other two.

listening to pic related right now. Feel like this album was missed because it's really enjoyable. Especially the first track.

You could try Suffocate for Fuck Sake, but they are a bit on the screamo side.

This Patch of Sky is also not bad.

I like it a lot, especially Piss Crowns. The first build up and climax at 5:30 is amazing. Allelujah had more aggressive sound, ASOD feels sludgy, drone-y, noisy but at the same time more hopeful. Listen to the new live tracks, GYBE is moving in a direction that is more "classical" but without the noisiness (esp. New Song 2).

Looking for some lesser known recs too. I like GYBE, Sigur (Kveikur and brackets), Evpatoria, TWDY (Tunnel Blanket and newer), ASMZ, Swans (SFTB and newer), Yndi Halda. Not a fan of the 3rd wave twinkly stuff but can't get into the jazzy 1st wave either.

I love the hell out of this, I think its very different from its predecessor .
It's probly the heaviest thing they ever put out, the steer away from the build-up formula. I can't realy discern a main theme for this album as I could with the other releases (F#a#/post-apocalyptic, Yanqui/War, ...)
Don't bend was more diverse and had this
Arabic feel to it, this one is clearly about Revolution and refelects and was inspired by both the Arab Spring and the Maple spring(2012 student srike and social movement, QC). Fun fact the sample at the end of the first track is from a pot and pan popular demonstration held during the maple spring.

Another fun fact, 2015 is the scene of yet another large student strike....at the same time GYBE release a new record...again.

Very political people.

I'd recommend Crippled Black Phoenix. Particularly 200 Tons of Bad Luck. Mix of doom and post rock, they're not too obscure but I don't see much talk about them apart from when an album drops. Got a big Pink Floyd influence as well.

Also these aren't too similar to anything you mentioned but I like the same stuff as you and I like this, 'her mouth is an outlaw' by Amplifier Machine. Very subtle stuff.
