This of course lead to his thrusting of his daughter into the limelight, striking oil where he had only scratched the surface before. Billy Ray was rich and his daughter was famous, so he was content.
Miley, for a time, was exactly what everyone wanted her to be - a wholesome but wildly popular teen idol, allowing her father and Disney to cash in.
But, a career predicated upon this fifteen minutes does not often leave those on its path unscathed. Miley, following her father's footsteps, liked the attention - and where he had been washed up, she was green and ripe and only beginning. But she knew she couldn't milk the Disney route forever - she would not be a one-hit wonder like her father. All she needed to do was to shift her demographic to fit a rapidly aging fanbase.
Thus she begins the route of the provocateur. In lieu of really any creative songwriting, she focuses on the two things she can do - make catchy songs for the general populace and show off her body. This fits Miley perfectly - she was really more of an actor than a singer anyway. This is just another role - she knows how to live a double life.
So she follows suit, and history repeats itself. Britney Spears was a Mousketeer. Why would you think Hannah Montana was any different?
