I'm sick of Spotify and their crappy bitrate and small pay for artists! Have you heard of this cool new site named Tidal? It's artist owned, for the artist. I think you'll like it.

Spotify is great for keeping up with what respectable music friends are listening too. Also easy way to not pirate music but have access to pretty much all of it. I go to lots of live shows and thats how most bands make their money anyways unless they are hacks.

>> No.55265225

FUCK TIDAL.

They say they help artists... They're the 1%.

Check this guys out -> TRADIIO dot com

they're starting but it's going to be massive

last.fm really is pretty good for discovering new music. allmusic is okay too.

i guess it just depends on how you consume music. i'm not a singles kind of guy. i get into record labels and stuff when i'm looking for new music. maybe look into using rateyourmusic and sputnikmusic.

I've used spotify and I could see it working for someone who listens to really mainstream music that is neither too new or too old and doesn't mind massive gaps in artists and discographies.

My favorite service has to be going on youtube to find shit like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BzNQ8SVCgL0 and hunting it down in all the the usual and unusual places like a crack fiend hunts down crack.

>> No.55266156

>>55266107

spotify actually has a ton of obscure music

like, REALLY obscure, some stuff you can't even find on YouTube

I like it, especially since I can use it on my phone without having to actually store anything

I've only seen one massive gap (they don't have most of AC's first few albums) and they have plenty of obscure stuff. Spotify is great.

The don't have a lot of the prog I listen to and the gaps they have are some of the worst. Not to mention all 'discovery' heuristics are awful and broken from the get go.
