A couple weeks ago someone posted a lot of lesser-known and amazing post-punk releases in this sharethread:

http://archive.rebeccablacktech.com/mu/thread/S54636289#p54637796

I especially recommend Dome, Missing Foundation, and Leven Signs (which is more like prog-new wave, but whatever)

Metabolist basically sounded like a bastard child between This Heat and Magma, and their music is as good as that sounds. They need more recognition

Yeah, I agree, though Metal Box is close. Flowers of Romance just has a great tribal feel to it, mostly thanks to the percussion and Lyndon's vocals sound like cultist preaching. Plus the musique concrete elements also make it stand out

I don't really like Liars but I've never heard their debut album. I guess I'll check it out.

I've always found Entertainment! to be kind of underwhelming. It has some really great songs like "Damaged Goods" and "At Home He's a Tourist", but for some reason I find the album as a whole pretty tedious. It's annoying because it sounds like they have so much potential that they just fall short of achieving. I feel a similar way about The Pop Group.

maybe A Certain Ratio - To Each, they take the funk influence to another level
Though I don't really see how the Pop Group don't achieve their full potential. They accomplished something spectacular with their debut, it's a very unique blend of dub, funk, no wave and free jazz.

Nah, New Brigade is pretty amateurish and barebones, and I say that as someone who owns a copy of it and loves it. The songwriting is simplistic as fuck, the instrumentalists can barely keep time with each other and Elias has the voice and lyrical chops of a 16-year old. It sounds like a decent album made by an unambitious local band, which is what Iceage was at the time anyway.
You're Nothing is far more accomplished and self-assured as far as straight-up punk Iceage goes and Plowing Into The Field Of Love makes both of those albums seem like a joke by comparison.

Sexdrome is straight-up hardcore punk. Great band though, a shame they broke up.
This is also a pretty good one-man project from the same scene that Iceage, Lower and Sexdrome are.

Same dude used to do weird noisy punk black metal under the name Jackman(and now plays drums in Communions, which I don't like).

It sounds simple on the surface but the arrangements are actually quite advanced(most likely purely on accident, i don't think they realized it themselves. Most songs on the album have riffs that span over 10 bars, choppy and disorienting rythms yet still somehow kept coherent, that coupled with their chaotic playing style that sounds like it's about to collapse at any second yet always comes together makes this album far from simple.

I'd still say that FOL is the better album though, just don't agree with it being simple

I guess you're right about the playing style but I was talking more about the general songwriting and structuring of the tracks than anything else, there's not a lot to digest there as far as the general detail and refinement goes. You get pretty much everything you can get out of the album within the first handful of listens, which I can't say about You're Nothing or Plowing.
