| >> | No.55158422 I saw Flying Lotus a grocery store in Los Angeles yesterday. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn't want to be a douche and bother him and ask him for photos or anything.
He said, "Oh, like you're doing now?"
I was taken aback, and all I could say was "Huh?" but he kept cutting me off and going "huh? huh? huh?" and closing his hand shut in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw FlyLo trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen Milky Ways in his hands without paying. The girl at the counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like "Sir, you need to pay for those first." At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.
When she took one of the bars and started scanning it multiple times, he stopped her and told her to scan them each individually "to prevent any electrical infetterence," and then turned around and winked at me. I don't even think that's a word. After she scanned each bar and put them in a bag and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by yawning really loudly. |
| >> | No.55165853 >>55158408 >>55158408 I'm a big fan of his, actually. I do still think UTQC is probably his best work, but I did enjoy You're Dead! a lot.
As much of a fan of his I am, I still think his live shows are disappointing. I saw him at Terminal 5 and the highlight of the night was Thundecat's little band on the left side of the stage playing a one hour medley of all the Thundercat tunes. FlyLo remixes all his tunes into EDM for live performance, and it's just not good. Him doing the Jesus pose as all the bass hit and the whole mask and cube thing is cool, but, frankly, if I wanted gimmicky laser sets, I'd rather watch Skrillex or Deadmau5 with their super high-budget shows; seeing as I don't really care to watch those either, anyway....
FlyLo would have a much better show if he just brought up Thundercat's virtuoso trio and performed alongside them, leaving the drums to that Justin guy, and just triggering synths and shit, maybe rapping as Captain Murphy, too (he did that at Terminal 5, but it wasn't crazy impressive or anything, since it wouldn't have felt that different if the verses were ore recorded, anyway).
But yeah, FlyLo, overall (apart from the live stuff) is brilliant. I think even the people who didn't like You're Dead! should stick around and see whatever else he has up his sleeve. |
