how is what zeppelin did ("plagiarizing" stuff) any different than sampling?

in both cases you have artists taking something that's not theirs and give it their own interpetation.

yet zeppelin get heavily criticised by the same people that will argue that sampling is perfectly fine. why is that?

retarded capitalist philosophy
you can't deny that they improved it a shit ton

in the first case the artist cites his sample sources if he's got a minimum respect for what he's doing, in the second case the band never acknowledged playing anything that wasn't theirs

LZ didn't credit any of those unknown nigs. That's a serious difference.

It's stealing when you think you can get away without even asking for permission.

>> No.55109123

Artistically there is no difference. It's perfectly acceptable. The only reason anyone was offended by it is because if you sell a cover of a song then the songwriter is owed 8 cents per dollar of profits, but Page credited his modified versions to himself so they didn't pay out to anyone.

Samplers pay for the right to sample.

not only that, in hip hop or general sampling culture there's a different idea about it, that includes more natural respect than just saying "Oh, I give credit". Led Zeppelin were outright copying, claiming, and just building upon something that not just wasn't theirs, but didn't demonstrate any talent or creativity.

You are automatically assuming sampling music is malicious and want to think you're intelligent for exposing hypocrisy, just fucking except it's time to go to bed dad.

so you think that every hip hop artist (or any other artist that uses samples) really asks permission for each sample? you think that the all of the 1000 people that sampled james brown's funky drummer asked for permission? if that's true it'll take a longass time to produce a sample based album

Of course not. And when they don't they're just stealing. You didn't expect me to defend stealing niggers, did you?

please don't paint a positive light of a guitarist who was only good for five or so years after their fourth album. and then proceeded to fuck 12 year olds

he was never fucking 12 year olds. it was one 14 year old (lori maddox) and even bowie fucked her. infact, she lost her virginity to bowie.

Don't rappers regularly release albums as mixtapes because then they don't have to clear samples?
