What are some great Soul/Funk/RnB albums, /mu/?

I've been wanting to get into this spectrum of music more and I've heard some of the classics such as pic related, but I'd like to dig a little deeper.

well, the thing is, despite great larger label acts who made album-oriented soul in the late 60s and 70s (hayes, mayfield, wonder, green, gaye etc), soul has been a single-driven format since its inception in the early 60s, and funk followed suit
you're best going through comps (dave godin's ones are good, as are stuff by soul jazz records, numero group, and a ton of others) or just listening to singles on youtube

that said, one album i don't hear enough about, aside from the credit it gets for being sampled, is marva whitney's it's my thing. amazing female fronted funk, produced by james brown with the JBs for backing

I'd suggest starting with your basic P funk if you'd like funk.
Try out Parliament, Funkadelic, and Bootsy's Rubber band. After that check out Eddie Hazel, Fred Wesley, and George Clinton's solo works as well.
If you want to start out with soul I'd suggest checking out Bobby Womack and Earth Wind and Fire.
If you'd like soul funk albums, anything by Curtis Mayfield and Baby Huey's only album are some of my favorites( of all time, not just that genre)
If you want more jazz funk influenced stuff then check out early commodores
I've got a lot of obscure stuff as well if you'd like.
