is it ever forgivable to by a best of album?

pic is a great album for getting friends into TMBG, plus almost every track is awesome.

>Not showing your friends their best album
Best of compilations are for casual plebs

Experimental Film appears on that album. Album is 10/10

TMBG's work is really inconsistent

their best album is probably lincoln or flood, but it doesn't have some of my favorites like Experimental Film, Can't Keep Johnny Down, I'm Impressed, Am I Awake, etc.

I'd be inclined to agree but TMBG really is an exception

Experimental Film is literally one of my favorite songs of all time

Yeah they're probably my favorite band of all time, but they have a lot of questionable stuff thrown in with some mind blowingly good stuff.

Accurate as fuck. Nanobots was relatively consistent though. You're On Fire and Stone Cold are still amazing.

I actually enjoyed Join Us a bit more. Those two songs are fucking amazing. TMBG was definitely strongest with their first 4 though. The rest can be hit or miss with some exceptions.

I got into TMBG with this one. It's pretty much a perfect introduction. Idlewild's good but none of their older (and mostly better IMO) stuff is represented

POWER RANKINGS

What's wrong with their s/t? I listened to it last week and loved it without having heard any TMBG before.

Everyone in this thread should check out then: the earlier years. It's mainly the first two tmbg albums plus miscellaneous t, but there are also a bunch of weird, lo-fi demo songs that are great and I've never been able to find anywhere else. Weep day, for example, is amazing

"A User's Guide To They Might Be Giants" is what got me into TMBG, and it came out well before their newer stuff so it's probably the best.

I'm retarded. s/t is godlike. I always feel like it and Lincoln almost feel like a double album with their similarities.

>>55003949
Great choice
