I bought an "Excepts from The Ring" cassette from a pawn shop for $1 a few days ago.

When it got to "Ride of the Valkyries" I just ejected and threw the tape out the window.

I almost think they should omit it from those compilations because it's so redundant.

>> No.54929091

on another note Ariadne auf Naxos is the first Strauss opera I've watched and now I feel really bad because it's like the worst starting place but so enjoyable

If it's recitativo/aria it's shit.
>>54929298
Technically speaking it's probably the most famous recording of all time so I guess it makes sense in that context.

The only problem with this production is that the composer is played by a woman (supposed to be a guy).
Made the lesbian "makeout" scene a bit off.

What are your thoughts on musical music?

Sorry for shitting up your thread, but I've really wanted to get into classical for a while now, but I'm a bit unsure of where to start. I've downloaded Beethoven's 3rd and 5th, and been enjoying them a lot. I'm also enjoying Arvo Pärt's Tabula Rasa and Fratres a lot.

What would you all recommend to start out with? Should I continue with Beethoven or are there better places to start?

I've read through the link here >>54896731 and it seems helpful, but I just need some composers to listen to in general.

Thanks for any help!
