What's the opinion of -Chance the Rapper-in here?I fucking love him.I'm also most likely a pleb.
his verse on baby blue was better than most of acid rap but i still fuck with his albums
>>5491340675% of /mu/ hates him.i don't think he's put out a tape i've liked in full yet, but he's responsible for some of the greatest raps of the 2010s, easily.
mc ride is better
>>54913406the songs Acid Rain and the 2nd half of Pusha Man are goodeverything else is shitway too gimmicky and one-dimensional most of the time, he's a lot like childish gambino in that way imo
he's alright, relies a bit too much on his gimmicks, not much depthhuge potential to blow up, some potential to get good
He's great. Gimmick isn't a derogatory word. I'm glad someone's trying to switch things up. We haven't seen someone do sing-rap this well since Andre 3000. He can't rap as well as him but he can still rap really well. His mixtape was critically acclaimed so of course the opinion of him is gonna be low here. He needs to stop fucking around with the Social Experiment and release another focused project.
>>54913706I really enjoy "I am so very lonely""Lady friend" and "sunday candy"I think he's just not too motivated to rap purely on himself/his opinions only.
>>54913740I mean they're not bad songs but it's just odd that he doesn't seem to be working towards a cohesive project. It's almost been 2 years since Acid Rap came out and all we've heard is that he wants to do an album with the Social Experiment.I don't mind what the subject matter is but I just want to see him release something other than standalone songs.
>>54913840the plan is the Social Experiment record ("almost done" for the past few months, expecting a late spring/early summer release), then the next Chance solo record.
>>54913930I'm pretty sure (or at least I hope) none of the stuff he's been releasing on soundcloud are gonna be on the album. They weren't bad but we'd know half of the album if they were on it.Assuming they aren't, we haven't really hears anything from the album at all. I doubt it'll be released soon unless he wants to do a spontaneous release.
>>54914087everybody wants to do a spontaneous release nowadays, and i remember Chance talking about doing just that in an interview or two.far as i know, only "Sunday Candy" is going to be on the record.
>>54914120I guess it isn't a true solo release so I don't care if he just drops it or not. I would hope his next project has some better marketing/relevance before it gets released.
I think he's great and 10 Day is better than Acid Rap.
He looks like a fucking alien.
On features he's actually pretty fucking bad...I think he might be running out of steam although Acid Rap was obviously good.
great guy.
not sure what gimmicks these guys are referring to but i really like acid rap, except for NaNa
>>54915679i should add that i'm white though, i've heard he appeals to us for some reason
Muh nasally voice
>>54915679I forgot NaNa was even on the mixtape. What a bad song.
Psychedelics are great but I have a huge problem with people who advocate using them as some sort of glimpse at absolute truth. What you perceive while tripping is just as flawed, if not more so, than what you perceive while sober. They're great drugs, and yes they do help some people, but the way he promotes LSD is stereotypical and stupid imo.I really dislike the stereotypical psychedelic culture.
>>54913406corny
If he really tried he could make a great album but I bet his first album contains a bunch of filler shit like NaNa or Smoke Again
>>54916491>Smoke Again>fillerkillurselfmyman.jpg
>>54916215Do you mean within the mixtape or in interviews? He doesn't really promote LSD as some divine light on the mixtape, but I haven't seen any of his interviews if that's what your referring to.Also, if Steve Jobs says taking LSD was the most defining moment in his life then I'd like to think it can open your mind a bit. >What you perceive while tripping is just as flawed, if not more so, than what you perceive while soberIt isn't about right and wrong. It just seems like a different perspective.
