Pinkshinyultrablast is still great
>>54912856Pretty good band. Aren't they considered Christian too? I know they are on a Christian label, Tooth and Nail.
What do you guys think of Nothing and/or Whirr?I love them both.
Of course I like painful, of course
>>54912856NiceDoes Flying Saucer Attack have any other good albums? Looking for something similar to s/t but less lo-fi if possible
https://memorialsofdistinction.bandcamp.com/album/beach-bodies-2008-2014https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XRtX3wbtULs
>>54912411Crazy how much better Mark is at singing now
>>54913267check distance, it's a good compilation
>>54912883It's true Bilinda is pretty based
>>54913231is this a new meme?>>54913267Starflyer 59 =/= Flying Saucer Attack
>>54912856Cool.Even Whirr ripped off a song of theirs at Blue
>>54913323Yeah, seems like the older he got, the better and more confident his voice got.
What's everyone's opinion on this?
there are like 4 good shoegaze albums
>>54915371why
>>54912411MBV back, Slowdive back, Swervedriver back, now Ride back. The inevitable return of shoegaze. What a time to be alive.
>>54916445The second cooming
Why do people like swervedriver
>>54918505why do people like shoegaze
Do you guys ever get hypnotized by certain shoegaze tracks where you rock your head slowly left and right to the melody of the song?i can't be the only onehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9nD4_gNEC1Y
check this out. straight up noise pop. nothing like anything they made after it
>>54920287That's like most music
I think this is a good album to introduce friends to shoegaze
>>54913207Whirr was kind of a good gateway for me to get into the genre, but I'm not crazy about anything they've released recently. Nothing are great
>>54913231this album is basically shoegaze right?
>>54920458why
What are essentials for those who want to get into this type of music? I've listened to MBV for years, and recently got into Slowdive, but where should I go from there?
>>54921141its got a good beat and you can dance to it
>>54920382I remember listening to this while watching Jiro Dreams of Sushi on mute and how well the slow-motion shots fit one of the songs. I think it was Nothing Left to Say.
>>54915371I think for genres, other than like Jazz, shoegaze has the best average albums for the size of the genre.
Does anyone have that Beautiful Noise documentary download link/anything?
>>54921144Here's the chart
>>54921385hot damn thanks plenty for this
>>54921385I THOUGHT WE WERE SUPPOSED TO WORK ON THIS BUT WE NEVER DID
this is so FUCKING GOOD
>>54912924they're on a christian label, but other than one song on Silver, and one song on Talking Voice vs. Singing Voice, they've never even talked about anything remotely christian.
>>54920475do people really like nothing? I thought they were just a hype band to be honest. I like whirr better but I don't know I'm probably just weird.
thoughts?
i can't believe i dismissed this album the first time i heard iti've been relistening to recently, and its quite a gem.How do you like this album, shugazi?
>>54920754It has more than a few shoegazing tracks
>>54922009I like Nothing. Check out their split with Whirr.
>>54923096Listening to this for the first time now. Is it really even shoegaze? Seems more electronic than the average shoegaze album
>>54923096Haven't listen to it, describe it pls.
>>54923950People say the same about sweet trip
>>54912856The amazing thing about SF59 is how many great albums they released. I listened to silver and assumed it was a fluke how good it was, so I never listened to their other albums for long time. I'm about five albums in and they are consistently great and each album has its own unique sound.silver, gold, americana, fashion focus, leave here a stranger, all fantastic
>>54912411Tfw I need to see MBV live before Kevin shields completely looses his hearing.
>>54927487reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Daily reminder: Captain Beefheart did proto-shoegaze in 1968 with the song 'Kandy Korn'.(Skip to 2:09, if you embed.)youtu.be/lwp5Cic3N3I?t=2m9s
>>54921385There is an updated one
>>54927487>tfw already seen them live two nights in a row almost a couple of years ago>mfw they opened up with Sometimes on both nights>didn't wear earplugs eitherfeels gucci mane
>>54928228My god you must have lost half your hearing.
>>54921191I don't think this is a good introductory album to shoegaze. Most likely your pleb friends will come to expect shoegaze to be funky and dance-able.
>>54928374Not really. To be quite honest (and this is going to sound crazy) but I've honestly been to more louder shows. The first time I saw Swans in 2011 was just straight up ear-piercing without earplugs, and I remember seeing a Stephen O' Mally solo set live in some warehouse venue and by god if that wasn't the most loudest fucking set I've ever witnessed in my entire life (I was right in front too btw). That being said, the holocaust on the both MBV shows were insanely fucking loud though.
Anyone mind uploading the latest EP from Cheatahs?
>>54921758literally the best album ever made. l i t e r a l l y
>>54922511Do you have a download link for this?
https://anti-life.bandcamp.com/album/first-to-be-last>abstract ambient shoegaze, one track has a beat and its the only bad one
Would like to say that I just saw Whirr and they brought smoke machines that filled the venue with thick fog. They than had blue lights going that made it look like a visual interpretation of shoegaze.
>>54926607leave here a stranger is 10/10 dream pop. the fashion focus is my personal favorite, followed by gold. their EPs are great too. Le Vainqueuer is definitely a must listen!
>>54930233I suggest seeing A Place to Bury Strangers. You could barely see them wih all the fog.
>>54930233What did you think of their live show? I've seen them a few times. The first was when they had the female singer and I feel like each time I've seen them since then has been a little worse.
>>54930673I thought it was great. I saw them once before and this show I just saw was better.
ride is back? are they working on a new album? oh fuck oh fuck
>>54923950Yes, they were one of the very first shoegaze bands that was about blending it with electronica. By their second album they had signed to Warp and dropped most of the guitar drone stuff, but still it was consistently good material throughout.
>>54932729Yeah they're back, I hope they make another record but they haven't said anything.
>>54932729Don't really care for another album, seeing as Andy Bell's songwriting went to complete shit, but I'm beyond stoked to see them next month.
>>54912411I'm listening to Deathconsciousness for the first time.Does discussion about it fit into this thread? What am I in for??
>>54933072feels
>>54928185Thank you!
>>54933097I can't wait(This is kinda spooky, kinda gloomy so far....I like it.)
>>54933072make sure you turn the volume up all the way when you get to holy fucking shit 40k because it's really quiet in the middle and demands close attention
Can someone please upload the My Bloody Valentine Loom Bootleg? I tried to search for it on the archives but the only link was dead.
How did we all feel about this?
