>Only a few minutes ago, the entire music industry stood on a stage in a collective display of how rich and out of touch they are. They think you are willing to pay up to double the price of other streaming music services to pay for their streaming music service, because they are crazy.

>> No.54786220

I use Spotify to check out new albums occasionally, fuck paying for streaming, thats retarded.

>jay z is still mad that notch made him and his wife look like fools by out bidding them on that la penthouse and decided to get revenge on the internet (which he most likely internally associates with someone like notch) by purchasing a streaming service and forwarding a facebook message to his richest musician associates, asking them to sign an exclusivity agreement to said service so the lot of them can pretend that this act alone will effectively bust a cap in the internets ass

huh

>> No.54786509

These people are all owned by someone else, they are slaves. The entities which own them have a long-time monopoly from A&E to radio saturation. They were happy to use internet opinion for A&E for a while, but now internet has made radio irrelevant too and they're panicking.

I don't think I've ever seen something so awkward. These performers who stand in front of thousands of people hundreds of nights each year and they're stood there like a bunch of toddlers looking bashful in a school play.

Also, fuck them all. Why did M3me Mouse wear his faggy mask. Just made the whole thing even gayer.

>> No.54788424

Maybe I'm horribly rich and out of touch, but $20 for a music streaming service doesn't sound unreasonable. It's useless when Spotify exists for cheaper, but three hours at a minimal wage job for a month of access to a ton of music seems fine.

Except its

A. A luxury
B. Already undercut by everything out there

So it's dumb

Charging 5 bucks for a sandwich isn't unreasonable, but if Burger King started selling regular cheeseburgers for that price while mcdonalds sells them for a fifth of that, it would be pretty stupid.

Look at the rates for other streaming services:
Spotify - $9.99
Google All Access - $9.99
rdio - $9.99
Amazon Prime Music - $99/year (many other benefits)
Netflix (not music, I know) - $8.99

Tidal costs double as much as all of its competitors and offers no additional value. $20 is too much when you can get the same product elsewhere for less.

Yeah it's obviously stupid, and I'm not gonna use it, but the quote in the OP makes it sound like $20 is a massive sum of money that only the richest of the rich could fathom spending. Which it could be, who knows, apparently I'm a decadent Texan oil baron.

>> No.54788570

>>54788515
It's stupid but if you think about it they're not getting much money from Spotify anyway so if they cash in on this for about a month it might still be worth it for them.

>> No.54788583

>>54788424
I agree but I feel like they're attempting to stop the small guys. MP3 album/single sales are still steady but they could start a massive decline at any time. Spotify and Youtube is the future of music. Physical releases, merchandise, concerts, etc. will always be there but they vary. If they can take over the streaming servicing they can squish the little guys out easier later on. It's an investment of their music monopolies. Similar to the radio. The big guys took it over and look what the hit songs are. Every once in a while a talented artist gets through but it's mostly the corporate assholes who are on the Top 200.

ONE WONDERFULL IDEA I HAD

Tidal is starting and dont have too much listeners, we could get together create TRIAL accounts and put the noise artist masonna or the noise artist kylie minoise to play alot and with it put him on the top charts.

COMON LETS DO IT

What do you think about it?
