| >> | No.54754797 >>54754562 i'm surprised Hov didn't rename it. it seems like a cool idea, but idk how it's gonna work on stiffing the labels (which is the actual problem, labels taking too big a cut from streaming) when all the artists are still beholden TO the labels.
at this point, there needs to be an aritst run 4th major label, being that the big 3 control the world, but thats not possible unless a bunch of people defect, and even still, the big 3 already own all of recorded music up to this point. maybe an artist can become the head of a big label or something, but then, they're all owned my multinational media conglomerates, so eh |
| >> | No.54758732 "This is for the people, by the people" >Again, more inane bullshit. For the people? Who the fuck are these oppressed people who are need of another streaming service that's even more expensive than the rest? "This is the beginning of a new world" >You know, its been said that Kanye West is really a stupid man and for a long time I didn't think this was true, I'm sorry for every doubting people. "You put this many talented, creative minds together, living off each other, sharing concerns, things will change. We really do have a way to change the opportunity we all experience art." >So with the amount of collective talent in one room you've come up with a version of Spotify that delivers content at a slightly higher rate of audio. Fuck, change the way we experience art? What does that even mean? The only thing you want to change is how money is delivered to your bank account.
Honestly, and I know this probably has been brought up but if artist really wanted to take a "stand' against this boogieman know as the record companies they would put their trust in their fans and listeners and deliver the content themselves, like bandcamp, instead they've created a more than likely shittier version of Spotify or any of the streaming services. |
| >> | No.54759769 This shit is just more snake-oil. Don't fall for it. And I'm definitely a fidelity snob.
First off, human's can't hear better than CD quality, so if this service promises "Hi Definition" playback, beware.
Secondly, unless the source material is remastered, most music of the last two decades will still sound like shit (loudness wars, compression), so even if you could tell the difference between 16/44 and 24/192, the latter version would probably sound worse since it would reveal just how shit the mix and master was. Remember, the mastering/mixing strategy of the last 20 years was out of a need to make music "sound good" in noisy environments (your car) and on cheap headphones. So the better your system is, the worse these mixes will sound.
If you want the best quality mixes and masters, these are your only option (and they're an expensive one):
