Why do these threads exist? Are there really simpletons that can't get into death grips, swans, radiohead, and mbv. Kinda makes it hard to take this place as a music board seriously.

>These people are nowhere near the norm
you seem pretty disconnected if that's what you really think.

Loveless is a very important and popular album while death grips are a straight up meme (their subreddit has something like 10k people). it's not underground or an incredibly inaccessible thing.

Also, there's nothing inaccessible about loveles except the layers of sound (the "noise"). The songs themselves are very simple pop songs with simple melodies that make it accessible. And as for Death Grips, they might be a bit weird but still very easy to digest. These bands are just inaccessible compared to the most entry level music, so a lot of people like them, but they're not REALLY inaccessible as there are so many simple and easy to get elements with their music.

I listen to DG a ton, and my gf is now beginning to enjoy them. The most causal album by far is The Money Store, so that should be your first listen. Government Plates is a really complex album, but if you're into electronic music you can enjoy it on a superficial level at first; expect to like it a lot more with more listens. Exmilitary is really guitar driven; besides that it's for them pretty genre-reliant. After that, listen to the EP, Live from Death Valley, and their Adult Swim single; all their really early releases have a similar sound, though the AS single was clearly recorded during TMS sessions. No Love Deep Web is really catchy, but possibly too harsh for the uninitiated. Niggas on the Moon is really out there, definitely save that for the end. I haven't listened to Jenny Death yet, but I'd say just listen to The Powers That B in one shot. I know from experience that NOTM takes a few listens, so be wary.

Or you could just listen to it in order like a normal person.
