why do blacks usually listen to rap/hip-hop and only rap/hip-hop? you hardly see blacks in bands or branch out into other types of music. its almost always rap/hip-hop with blacks. would like to know why they don't branch out and try new styles of music

And I mean white ancestors were the precursor to that so yeah it must be true.

If I was gonna get theoretical about it, my suspicion is that the black community thrives much more on collective upbringings, especially in poor living areas like apartment complexes where everyone kind of knows each other. My evidence for this is that I know a lot of middle-class suburban blacks that actually do branch out and listen to other forms of music.

Not me as much as other black suburbanites, but branching out from rap is common among us (I'm one myself). Especially with the females, the only rap they really listen to is Drake and Childish Gambino, although they aren't that heavily into his music where he really raps.

Exactly. Because you were raised in a more individualistic household with more accessibility to music, ie. your own laptop, personal computer, iphone, etc. That areas of the black community that are less fortunate don't have access to.

Now if they had access, would they branch out? According to my theory, probably not. You see conformity, to me, is a very strong psychological force, and I truly think that growing up constantly around other people, especially other people that all listen to the same Migos and Keef, is too strong and up front of a force, to the point where they may not even think about other music that hasn't basically been shoved in their face by their environment and popular media.

The problem is this.

DAWs have made everyone lazy about music. You don't have to learn or master the art when you can just load in premade loops, samples and VST presets.

Any retard can churn out beats nowadays and it really shows. Everything sounds like vengeance pack loops and the sound design is fucking woeful. Everyone's just out for a cheap buck and it's never been simpler thanks to DAW/VST "music".

I didn't say they didn't exist, but they are much less prominent. You don't need to be able to play a traditional instrument to make music anymore, and you barely need to be able to sing. And I don't really care how insane your personal music catalog/artistry knowledge is, don't pretend like the music world isn't capitalizing on image and personality vs actual musical talent.

>> No.54595243

Looking back to folk songs and show tunes, music is as creative as it's ever been.

Also you'll be surprised just how many chart singers write their own stuff.
