lets talk about beyond alive, what do you like about it, what don't you like?

i mean a huge part of it for me is that part that starts "i crash on beds on nails". My interpretation of it is that the whole song is about feeling euphoric on drugs (i.e. beyond alive) and that part at 3:50 that I'm talking about is supposed to represent a crash/withdrawal. IMO its HUGELY effective at conveying that feeling, at that point beyond alive has the same emotional impact as on GP. I just wished they would've stretched it out a little longer, if even just repeated that little short verse MC ride does one more time.

the last part is obviously similar, but it doesnt have the same impact IMO because zach's drumming is way different.

I love the hook on the song, and lyrically Stefan is on point as always. I don't feel it's as good as the other tracks on the album, mostly because the way it's mixed the high hats drown out everything else. Also I agree with Fantano, the guitar work is kinda weak. The outro is great though, with the flute sample and whatnot, and it has one of the stronger hooks on the album IMO. Still probably my least favorite track.

Wow really? I thought that was one of the best songs on the record. It's extremely powerful both sonically and lyrically, just a really 'immense' song for lack of a better word. Sick lyrics all around too, "I can't know what I'm 'bout to do / I'm what the fuck happens" and "I get paid by the universe" and pretty much the whole song.

If there's one thing I miss about Exmilitary, it's how much I loved the samples they used. Yeah it's cool seeing them sample themselves/stock sounds in unexpected ways, but I really loved hearing Ride over stuff like Jane's Addiction/Black Flag/Pink Floyd, etc, although now that I think about it, I think really all I want is more guitar oriented DG.

I just came back from taking a massive shit while listening to "I Break Mirrors With My Face In The United States" and I think it was by far the greatest thing I've done this entire week. The guitar melody is very pretty for a Death Grips song. The slow, plodding feel of the song reflects the lyrics perfectly, which are some of DG's most emotional if you read into them. Apart from the drugged out haze of the song, it's also very anthemic, like you can imagine a crowd chanting along during the guitar refrain with lighters up or some shit. It's definitely a grower, especially since it comes after what I think is the weakest track on the album, but when you realize what they're doing it really hits hard. It's like a warmup for the feel trip of On GP.
