How can I tell if my drones are shit? I really like them, but I have no clue if they are actually good. Can I get some feedback on this.

not my type of drones, smth irritating about it. and not atmospheric enough for my taste.

What's some essential noise? My favorite album is Venereology and RYM isn't really helping.

>> No.54480590

>>54480452
How is RYM not helping?

Some /mu/ popular noise (that's harsh and something you might like too since you like Venereology) is:
1930 - Merzbow
History of Aids - Prurient
Sheer Hellish Miasma - Kevin Drumm

Personal harsh noise favs that you might like:
Master Control - Blood ov thee Christ
Beats, Noise & Life. - Guilty Connector
The Voyage of the Decima MAS - The Rita

>> No.54480655

>>54480590
Because the highest rated noise album is like 3.5 and all of the ratings are seriously deflated because they are flooded with people who just randomly picked up a noise album and the number of people who listen to noise on RYM is very low.

Thanks for the recs though!

Half a year I think. I remember I used to hate it and dismiss it as music and thought people who listen to that are psychopaths or something.
Then as I got deeper into music, I discovered some noisy stuff and album by album I started listening to full noise and harsh noise albums.

Best vocal performance of 2014, at least.
CE put out a new EP a few weeks back, I think. Didn't hear the whole thing yet, but the bits I've heard are pretty interesting.

No idea, I would say it's a blend of industrial, ambient, electronic music and noise.

Also try Pan Sonic - Kesto. Curiously, it's an other 4-CD album.

Recently heard this. It has now become my favorite harsh noise album. I talked with the composer (if you can name him like that) and he calls it "dreamnoise". Highly recommended.

pete swanson's solo work
prurient - through the window

assimilate: a critical history of industrial music
is a fairly good book on the subject. it focuses a bit too much on the later dance industrial styles for my taste and it tends to ascribe some fairly high minded artistic concepts to dance music that, imo, just aren't there. but it has a good section on the early industrial scene that gets into some of the art theory behind a couple of the bands. it would be a good place to start.

In all honesty, as far as the creative trajectories of that early UK PE scene go I'd say that SJ have ended up with a body of work more interesting and dynamic than either Whitehouse or Consumer Electronics.
