Does this album evoke emotions out of anyone else?

>> No.54344118

Yes man. In The Mouth a Desert has some of the most profound emotional delivery of lines (and the abstract meaning that could be applied, unlike most pavement songs which are usually only solely lyrical) eva

>> No.54344143

I don't really like Pavement outside of this album.

That being said this album is genius

This picture sums up everything I hate about Pavement. Why on earth are they sitting like that? There are 2 perfectly good benches, yet Malkmus is the only one using them? I mean that guy on the left is just plain retarded, but at least he's trying. What the fuck are the rest of them doing? Sitting on a fountain? Playing hide and seek in the bushes? Grow up.

Pavement are illogical.

>> No.54344218

It did when I was 16 or 17.
It kinda just sounds like bland indie rock to me these days.

Guided By Voices are superior as far as the emotional weight of 90s lo-fi indie rock goes, I can see myself getting dead drunk and overtly sentimental to their stuff when I'm 40.

This album gives me some really nostalgic summer feels. Remembering being 17 and listening to this album all summer.

Loretta's Scars is my favorite, anyone else?

Here isn't sad man. It's nostalgic and makes you feel warm and appreciate those summers that have gone but you know you'll be playing this album in the summers coming so it's all good.

You can never be sad once you've let Pavement in your life. They're too fun to be sad.

I don't know why Terror Twilight gets so much flack. It's their most 'straight forward' album sure but just because it doesn't have a freak out or two in it or a Malkmus slow jam (e.g. Stop Breathin', Type Slowly etc.) doesn't make it their worst album IMO.

No.

I discovered Pavement through the lame comparisons critics made with Blur. I'd never heard their music before so was excited to listen to a band that sounded like later period Blur only to find out they sounded nothing like each other at all bar fuzzy guitars. Then the same comparisons got made between The Fall and Pavement and again I was excited to hear a 'new' (I know they're older) Pavement. What I found was a punk/post-punk band more in the style of Joy Division (minus the lyrics) mixed with the Buzzcocks.

Are you fucking stupid?
You really hear Joy Division's aesthetic mixed with The Buzzcocks when you listen to The Fall? Did you literally just read the first wikipedia paragraph and jump to that conclusion since theyre all from the same scene? You either didn't actually listen to the fall, or your ear is awful.
