Why has this gotten such lukewarm reviews? Better than every hip-hop album released last year.
>>54225207RACISMbut seriously its a great album i have no clue.
I loved the shit out of it when I first listened to it. After a couple of spins, the only stuff that really sticks out are some of the more political tracks. Damn Girl became somewhat grating, so I've been skipping it. Hubba Hubba and Jawn Cage are fun tracks, but nothing to really latch onto lyrically. Flag Shopping is fucking awesome though. Overall, I feel the production carries the shit out of this album. Something I've noticed some major reviewers completely pass on commenting on to focus on bashing Heems's lyrics on this album. I still really like it.
>>54225301The only thing I can think of is that middle eastern racism isn't the trendy thing for white people to be offended about right now.
>>54225368Flag Shopping is such a good song.
I wish I knew, probably because of the unironic pop tracks. Needledrop review was basically saying it sucked for not being steeped in irony like old DR releases. Fucking killer album though. Imagine how good it would have been if the label hadn't fucked up all the songs with indian samples and the diplo track.
>>54225448I think titling a song "Pop Song" is ironic, but I still enjoyed it.
>>54225404Shit hit me like a ton of bricks when I first heard it on the NPR pre-release stream.
Best album for me in the last 2 years, I just don't get how tnd and p4k didn't give it atleast a 7, fucking plebs...
>>54225207killer production but it felt pretty lukewarm to me from the first single to the last tracknew kool ad when
>>54225207because heems isnt an actual good rapper, people liked him when he was funny, not when he was actually trying to be good
>>54225448what's wrong with the indian samples?
