>yfw Mumford & Sons have decided to stop being "The Coldplay of Folk" and have just settled for being Coldplay.http://www.stereogum.com/1786211/mumford-sons-believe/mp3s/
how will they pull off that "canadian lumberjack freshly out from auschwitz" look now?
>>54151314man i liked their folk-pop shit, but sweet jesus this has got to be one of the worst things i have heard in a long timewow
>>54153234fuck you
>>54153246y-you too
I can not even contain my disappointment. Mumford and Sons was such a breath of fresh air in this new mainstream world of music, and now they have completely sold out. They have strayed away from everything I loved about them and shit on their true fans to satisfy the masses. In the words of Marcus they are trying "to branch out" but we all know what that means. Why would they choose to branch out and not do what they love? horrible. horrible. I cant even put together a valid argument right now because I am so pissed so don't reply with your BS support for these sell outs.
>>54153301fuck you
>>54153301lel i saw that commentactually the whole comment section is a goldmine
M&S are shit but Winter Winds is a great songalso that one song they made with King Charles
>>54151314So they've gone from mediocre and uninspired to being mediocre and uninspired, cool. I'm really liking how this band's sound is progressing.
that solo is ok.song's p bad, though
Coldplay are way better than fucking Mumford & Sons, jesus
>/mu/ is discussing mumford and sonsWhat the fuck, has everyone Moot really cucked this place that much?
what's with shit bands and bench artwork?
Why am I getting a half baked "The National" sound from this. When I heard "new direction" I assumed they were stepping into deeper regions of folk such as Fleet Foxes or Lord Huron, but they just 180ed into Coldplay style spam chorus 10 times and then a solo
>2012 >not playing your banjo for m&s sing-alongs with lelsoindie qtsits like you people weren't even trying
Sounds awful. Has any "folk" musician in recent memory ever pulled off a switch like that?
>>54153921subaru stevens
>>54153914>2012>not recording m&s ukulele covers with ur indeh gf in your room decorated with cutesy 'vintage' furniture and christmas lights
>>54153952>not recording m&s ukulele covers with ur indeh gf in your room decorated with cutesy 'vintage' furniture and christmas lightsCongrats on painting a picture that makes me want to vomit.
>>54153952damn(old) goalsi wish to god i hadn't been such an autist in collegeat least im not fucking up grad school...
I have been a huge fan of them for a very long time. This truly does sicken me to see. Oh well.
>Andwe sit, seeing one of the most daring and bold bands of the current generationThe comments are gold lads
>>54153893they used the national's studio or some shit, what do I careby the way I know the mumfords as family friends, no joke
>>54155688Yes, what ever will we do without Mumford & Sons, one of the most provocative and artistically courageous bands of our time?
>>54151314They sound more like u2 than coldplay
>>54156134this shit makes u2 sound like the chameleons in comparison
I actually really liked their first album, some nice songs in that one. With their second one they seemed to want to appeal more to the masses, and that album was shit, do I thought they would turn to their folk roots and dive deeper/experiment a bit. So much for my faith in that band that song was complete shit.
They somehow keep the exact same song structure they've played out on 2 whole albums and dumb it down further by advancing their instruments and production 100 years. Do record labels do this to every pop group or do musicians just "yea thats good idea" to everything theyre told?
>>54151314>inspired by led zeppelin and radioheadSeriously how
>>54156915in being shit, so far succesful
>>54156966wow contrarianThey seem like they just want to be U2/Coldplay like any other pop rock band of the 21st Century.
cool video though, reminds me of thishttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tEKsAFlty3M
>>54157018U2 actually experimented with a lot of different styles though
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dW6SkvErFEEThe butthurt in these comments is wonderful
It sounds like something specifically designed to be played during the end-of-season cast montage of an episode of Criminal Minds
>>54157491>Wha... what? What happened? Where are the deep lyrics?
Literally the Blur of the 2010s
>>54153840>implying anything said itt is even remotely positiveit's like you really are a flaming retard.

>>54153301Is this the new meme
I like coldplay and I'm proud
>>54157491This is way better than anything else they've ever done.Huh. I might actually check out this album.
>And here we sit, seeing one of the most daring and bold bands of the current generation turn into some generic Coldplayjesus christ why are people such plebs
I actually don't understand how this band can have same song structure in every song, and every song uses the same gimmicks, and the band doesn't see a problem with that. I like to write songs, and I generally feel really self conscious if I start catching myself using the same tricks over and over. It's almost as if... they don't care...
>>54157491Shame about the shit tier voice melody and lyrics, the guitars on this are dope. Reminds me of the solo in Paranoid Android a lot.
>>54153914this song doesn't have banjo
I could care less about Mumford and Sons, but holy crap, we get it hipsters, you hate Mumford and Sons more than the next guy.
A group that had probably the most genius production strategy of the 21st century, defined an aesthetic that outlined a generation, and wasn't afraid to go against the grain to set up an ideal of romanticism and tradition in popular culture, took a long break to seek something new after a disagreement, and after this hiatus, they hint that they are going somewhere completely different. Now, I miss the banjo but this was really fantastic. The electric guitar can replace it for a while if it's going to come on like that. Instead of bashing about because they are changing. You should give these guys a chance to try something different. Already you forget who they are and why you loved their music in the first place.Let them explore as they have always done. I welcome this with open arms and can't wait for the album release!

>>54153844they have a low benchmark?
>>54156593bands as big as mumford and sons basically print money for their record label. i'd say it's a mix of both, as everyone in the band seems to be limp wristed
The audience of Mumford and Sons music. I do not like the music. It makes me physically ill, and I, of course, I never listen to it, I think I will mourn. A decrease in domestic life as it sounds. It is difficult, but it is so easy to understand. For this reason, I hear his music. Coldplay is a different story. Chris Martin on psychedelics sounds like an elephant.
>>54160449Yes, nice Mahler image by the way.
