Why is Daniel Dumile so brilliant?(General rap thread)
>>54129311You go first
Being a good rapper is like winning the special olympics
>>54129325He is unique as fuck
>>54129341Indulge me, what music do you like then?
>>54129362Being unique at being bad isn't a great thing to do.
>>54129388REAL music like pink floyd, led zep and ac/dc
>>54129428Your meme is now my meme
>>54129410Have you listened to anything by him?
so here's some rap I'm hype for, explain how I'm pleb because of itKanye West - so help me godKendrick lamar - [no title, whatever he's working on]Lil Wayne - The Carter V (I'm hoping he's gone back to actually writing verses rather than just off the dome "albums" that he's been recently)
>>54129521Because on /mu/ you are a pleb no matter what
I've been on pic related for a week and a half now. Goddamn did it take me a while to warm up to it but I'm glad I stuck with it.

>>54129732Im guessing your a fan of RTJ then
He manages to make deadpan humor work in rap. Literally no other rapper nails it like he does and he's also technically proficient.
>>54129901Nah ain't even heard it yet. In fact I'd heard of RTJ for a while now, but only associated it with Killer Mike. My first exposure to El-P was on an Atmosphere track, "Homecoming." That was quite some time ago now, so I figured it was time to get into him. Started with Funcrusher Plus and loved it, but Fantastic Damage was harder to get into somehow. To me it sounds like he's 10 feet away from the mic in almost every track and that probably affected my enjoyment of it. I like when vocals are more pronounced. Thing is if you can't enjoy one aspect, you gotta find another. Luckily the real spacy production is dope as hell as well as his rhymes.
>>54129937I see him as Raps nerd. He just works in such odd samples and quirky lyrics but they work. Its insane how he does it
He called MF Doom by his real name! So patrician!
>>54129984OMG he has several stage names! Its easier to call him by his real name than his several stage names! omgeeeee XD
>>54129974I think in general it is tough to get into him. He is the complete opposite of what a rapper should be so it takes a while to get used to him. I had the same problem with him
>>54129311Because he is a very creative and smart person who practiced a lot
>>54130046How has he stayed so consistent though? Everything he does is brilliant
>>54130086...except for the bit where he hasn't made a good album since 2005, that is.
>>54130145What is born like this?
>>54130228half good, half filler, and that terrible gay Batman track, which knocks it down like half a letter grade on its own.
guess the album guys
>>54130273Blur -Think tank?
>>54130273Motley Crue - Yeezus.
Haven't listened to a lot of rap, but I super like ones with really cool instrumentals in the background like https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kCWY60hWJecand the piano part during the climax of clint eastwoodIf anyone can recommend something like those I'd greatly appreciate it.
anyone else heard the new ratking? thoughts?
>>54131648i tend to really dislike that maximal style of beatmaking, but if that's what you're into, that IS what everybody falls all over MBDTF and GKMC for.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0EA4dCxb3rMhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4rxlRn_nub0
>>54129410such unique taste you have there buddy
>>54131772Those two don't really do it for me, thanks though. I remember my friend playing some ludacris song that I kinda liked. I'll try and think of a better way to word what I'm looking for and post again another day.
>>54131861i may be the wrong person to respond to this, honestly.i tend to like rap songs with simpler beats that give the rapper space to groove and play around.here's something with a rich and triumphant soul sample, at least:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aNztygFZmt0
