Guess I'll start:

>recent shows & reviews

Only concert so far this year was Giraffage w/ Spazzkid. It was pretty nice. Sound could've been better. Crowd was also pretty shitty, bunch of smelly teens and wanna-be ravers. Still enjoyed myself though.
Spazzkid opened and I think I enjoyed him more than Giraffage. While Giraffage had better sound and tastier mixes, Spazzkid had a better feel and did better covers.
That was one of the biggest things I disliked in general, too: Too many covers, not enough original material between both artists. Also Giraffage mixed in Party in the USA and I was butthurt about it.
But still, cool show. Wouldn't mind seeing either again.

>upcoming shows & recs
Mar 11 - JD McPherson w/ Dylan Pratt. Not a definite, as it depends on whether I have the funds, but wouldn't mind seeing this. Not thrilled with the new album, but they're known to put on a fantastic live show.
Mar 17 - Helmet Betty 20th Anniversary show. Same situation as above, though I haven't heard anything good or bad about Helmet live.
Mar 27 - Tycho. Confirmed, can't wait. Keep hearing gr8 things about Tycho live.
Mar 30 - Benjamin Booker. HOLY FUCK looking forward to this one.
Apr 18 - Lightning Bolt w/ Metz JESUS CHRIST CAN'T WAIT

Then I saw Audacity and GRMLN at a local LA indie/punk show at The Smell. 7/10 pretty great.

never seen em before, but betty is one of my favorite rock albums ever so im beyond stoked. Got my tickets right when they went on sale. on youtube their betty tour live videos seem really cool. intense as hell

but as far as other concerts ive been to kind of recently, besides my own bands, there are quite a few:
>Saw Boris in Buffalo:
fucking loud, played a lot of new stuff but did some pink and amplifier worship so that was cool, 8.5/10
>Eyehategod in Erie:
again loud as fuck, played mostly the old stuff, im not familiar with the new stuff so i kinda just jammed along with it. over all pretty cool. the opening band, Yautja was better honestly, those guys are reallllly good live. EHG 7/10 Yautja 7.5/10

>Saw Melvins in Syracuse:
This was badass, show was mixed well and they played a ton of shit. Opened with hag me. 9/10
>Saw Arctic Monkeys in Buffalo
At a huge outdoor thing so it was pretty odd. Dont like their last 2 albums so that was lame. But the old stuff was done well i guess
6/10
>Saw Jeff Mangum in Buffalo:
The power went out during his like 3rd song. continued to do 2 more songs with no power or lights, just belting out lyrics into the darkness. People had to use their phone flashlights so he could see his frets. 10/10
>Saw Every time i die in buffalo
Every band opening was pure shit. Except Dayshell, they were mediocre. ETID played like shit, because they are shit. bro fuck boys everywhere. bad experience. Terror was ok though, i guess. overall show quality: 3.5/10

Dunno about anything upcoming that I will be attending. Unfortunately there are never really good acts that come through where I am and I can't afford to travel for shows. of Montreal comes through ever year though (and it's free for students of the local universities and college), supposedly only because one or two of them are from here (though I've never attempted to verify that claim). No, somehow he escaped with relatively minor injuries. A couple months ago some dude was shot in the head after a fight in the pit. It's to the point where no one wants to go to hardcore shows anymore.

Seeing Foo Fighters in a few days. Pretty pumped.

Queens of the Stone Age was insanely good.

Well to be fair, this isn't just moshing. I've been to shows where pits are fun. You get hit a few times, maybe have a bloody nose, maybe get a cut on your eye something like that. But when you skip a show because you're afraid you'll get stabbed for just being in the vicinity of the pit, it's not even moshing anymore.

I went and saw Mogwai the other week
I drank a fair bit, and I was alone so muh feels.
Other than that it was really good. They put on a fantastic show. I wish I hadn't drank so much though, and that I'd heard the latest album beforehand.

>tfw wish I had a group of friends who listened to post rock
I will die alone

I want to go see 65daysofstatic who are playing in my town this weekend. Probably will

did they just play Like clockwork? I loved the album but I rather hear more songs off Self titled and Rated R

most bands with a lot of albums never play songs from the original albums

most moshpits people will help you up and there is a general rule of being decent. yes some people will still get pretty rough but not with just any random person.

you usually only get the really violent pits at liek beatdown hardcore shows

All the mosh pits I've ever been in were really nice, creepy nice. Some people would apologize for elbowing my head. If people fall everyone picks them up, best mosh pit ever was for My Bloody Valentine because I didn't expect one.

Once I was dropped while crowdsurfing people immediately picked me up and I continued crowd surfing. Then again I don't go to hardcore or metal shows.

From my experience, the people who are more violent are the tough guy gym junkies who only listen to hardcore to feed their egos. I saw Harms Way at my local venue a few weeks ago and it was filled with meatheads who stood in the mosh and literally just punched the air in front of them.

I used to love the EDM scene until these kids started flooding it as well. Now you just get mexicans who all wear their hair with the same faux hawk, wearing their stripped tanks, Nike socks and vans. Then they try to start push pits during drops and what not. Like, what the fuck are these kids doing?
