My mum (usually listen to jazz, classical, opera, along with some of last century's most famous pop and rock artists) told me, some years ago, that she loved every style of music. So I went full "oh rly ? lets see", up to stuff like napalm death (harshest stuff I knew at the time) >"Too bad the lyrics aren't really understandable, but I like it, it's energetic" >mfw |
| >> | No.53969134 >>53968968 Don't get me wrong when I say this: I like Kanye West and think he's a good rap artist, but there is so much better stuff out there than rap. I honestly believe rap in particular, and hip hop in general are going to see a blossom in artistic creativity in the next 20 years, much like how Rock and Roll did in the 60s and 70s by bans in the 40s and 50s playing safe, commercial, and radio friendly hits. Hell, you can even see it starting with some groups like Death Grips*, B L A C K I E, Dalek, and Clipping* (*= neither are neccesarily that spectacular, but it has to be given to them that they have pushed the boundaries of hip hop and rap to newer limits not previously seen in rap, to my knowledge). I like Kanye West, not because I think his music is revolutionary, but because I think he's paving the road for hip hop artists in the future to really push the boundaries of the medium into directions we can only hop for. |
