What do you think music today would sound like if The Pixies never existed?

Do you think their musical influence was really that real? Or if there would be any bands who could've done what they did for the industry in their place?

the 90s would have definitely been more poppy electronic, instead of all the alternative grunge bands

What did they even do that hadn't been done by Dinosaur Jr, Sonic Youth and various post-punk bands?

heavy/loud dynamics, a lot more bass, lyrics & imo in general they have a very different guitar style than those bands even though they inffluenced each other

Its really sad that most bands just took the Loud-Quiet dynamics thing (that wasn't that prominent in all the songs) but couldn't learn about the great sense of rythm they had. All of them were listening to Where Is My Mind? and Gouge Away, and nobody seemed to notice I Bleed and Vamos.

yeah, i feel this happens to a lot of famous bands

Post-punk is all about that bass m8
Also Pere Ubu used the quiet/loud thing on some songs like Laughing and Caligari's Mirror

I agree.
Vamos might seriously be the greatest alt rock song of all time (both versions).
