to me personally, i love dean blunt, i love his old stuff, all the way back from their early work as hype williams, i like his transition from lo fi psychedelic beat music to his melancholic pop that hes creating now

but im sorry the redeemer is a thousand times better than black metal, everyones just jumping on his bandwagon because hes trendy rn, and i think he knows it, hes got songs about molly and aquafina for fucks sake

imo most underrated tape is stone island

(dean blunt and you)

i listen to stone island more than redeemer these days, but i think black metal is still quite good even if not on the same level as both. yes, he's attracted more fans as of late, but i don't think that's a reflection on the quality or content of the music. molly & aquafina is not a reach out to the mainstream, it's part of the evolution of his coping through music

>> No.53851095

>>53850931
nah black metal is better more solid all around. i admit imo molly and aqua is the weakest track
forever is just blissful.

redeemer was what got me into him after a break then i back tracked to hype williams.

imo right now

what made you think this? i get that some of the compositions were more fleshed out and a few concepts were better executed, like that 13 minute track forever, thats one of his best works yet imo, but to me the raw emotion in redeemer just seems so real, idk the whole project was just visceral nihilism, i sort of feel in a weird way like inga copeland broke my heart too in a weird sort of meta kind of way

yeah i get that it was more of a conscious acknowledgement / tribute more than jumping on a hype train, i dont resent him for it at all, i like it, i feel like hes rooted in the kinds of cultures the words come from, and its fitting that he pay tribute to the changing tides of hip hop culture
