Lifelover didn't have a strong post-punk influence? Really? Because I can tell for sure they certainly didn't have a shoegaze one.

Blackgaze sounds the way it does directly as a result of Neige and Alcest.

Now, even if what you said was true, that Lifelover started blackgaze, Pulver didn't come out until 2006. Alcest's Le Secret, their first album to incorporate a "blackgaze" sound, was released in 2005.

Fleurety were kind of the unsung progenitors of black metal/post-rock but for some reason Alcest became known as the leading band of the movement despite Neige saying:
>“At the Le Secret/Souvenirs period my musical inspirations were Yann Tiersen, Ataraxia, and Burzum, and for Écailles De Lune it was the fantastic and so underrated British post-punk band The Chameleons… As I said a lot of times in previous interviews, Alcest music never had any link with shoegaze for the simple reason that I discovered this style of music after having composed Souvenirs. Now I am listening to it a lot, it’s great, especially bands like Slowdive, Pale Saints, Ride, etc.”

An album can have a concept but if it can't actually make good on it, then what good is the concept? This is a floppy wankfest. I hear no kingdom of god falling.

I don't doubt that they put thought into their compositions, but it comes out as nothing but masturbation. The album suffocates itself under its own technicality, rendering all possible meaning lost.

Fas is technical, but it is a significantly different breed of technicality. The technicality they use isn't just lots of super fast high notes. It's really off putting chord progressions, and intervals which unsettle you. There is emotion in all that chaos and they know when to bring it out, and take a step back. LoP doesn't.

Maybe I've heard the wrong songs, maybe you can show me a song like The Repellent Scars of Abandon and Election or A Chore for the Lost on that album.

That one riff in The Devourer is pretty much the only enjoyable moment I could find. Except they don't let it sink in at all. The music doesn't take advantage of it at all. They shift right off into more wanking, and the drums kill what moment there was.

Compare this to a similar riff in A Chore for the Lost at 3:30, and where it repeats again at 4:00.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WayVS0gnBNc
It comes right down after and the moment sticks with you, it isn't immediately lost in more cacophony.

Tried watching some of his other vids a while back of people playing guitar in front of him but to me that's kinda disrespectful (although I'm pretty sure even in his state he enjoys teaching others).

How can you listen to music that is deliberately ugly and bad/unlistenable? Are you just edgy? Is that why they always have those ugly tasteless names and album covers? It's the goal of metal. Metal is always ugly and tasteless. It's a fact. That's the point. I don't understand why someone would want to be like that.

The other day I saw some faggot (around 25) riding around on a skateboard while wearing a hoodie that said "NAPALM DEATH". I don't understand why a fucking adult would want to be so edgy and tasteless. Napalm is a horrible thing and it's disgusting to be walking around (or in his case, skating; something for little kids. How can a self respecting person do this? It's ok if you like it, I guess, but jesus christ. You look like such a gigantic childish faggot. You probably smoke a lot of weed and don't have a job) with clothes that promote death by napalm.

Disgusting and tasteless. Why do you people want to be like that?
