I'm new to boards of Canada, and I've only just listened to Geogaddi. I'm really drawn to the more hazy ambiguous tracks like "Ready Let's Go," "Beware the Friendly Stranger," "Over the Horizon Radar," etc.

While I enjoy the below-the-surface feelings of tracks like "Music Is Math" and "Gyroscope," the beats really don't do much for me.

Are there any releases in their catalogue that more resemble the former than the latter?

Thanks

I think you would enjoy Tomorrow's Harvest. Also, Geogaddi reversed is a fantastic experience.

I'm the exact same way, and I personally prefer their earlier work. Particularly Old Tunes Vol. 1 & 2 (especially 2), and Random 35 Track Tape. But there's some moments on their later albums that fit the description. Olson on MHTRTC, the end of '84 Pontiac Dream on TCH, Telepath on Tomorrow's Harvest, etc. Geogaddi is undeniably the peak of their ambient/vignette tracks though, sadly. You're probably better off looking at other artists if Old Tunes 1&2 don't do it for you

I'll look into it, thanks

Not especially. The beats completely distract from the core mood of the tracks imo. I don't think their presence is justified I guess aside from wanting a rhythm to groove to. That's not really what attracts me to their sound though.

Thanks I'll give Old Tunes a listen and hope for the best
