i only make music when high. i like some stuff i write when sober, but i like finding things that sound psychedelic when high, even if its just regular folk finger picking stuff

weed motivates me to work on music.
makes me want to work on tracks, play instruments, invent shit. inspires me to come up with melodies, songs, beats, ideas.

10/10 music drug

they helped me waste the last seven years, lets see if they can hold me over until I'm old enough to be put into a home.

Alcohol helps finding lyrics and melodies over music, it can become shit sometimes though

Booze used to help me with lyrics, and to a lesser degree, the music. Amphetamines are good for both, too. I'm 33 now, and was in bands during my late teens-early 20's. When the music was booze fueled, shit was good. Then me and a couple band mates got into pills/heroin. That shit is the anti-good music drug, wasted a lot of good years trying to play music while being addicted to that stuff, to no avail.

After about a decade of hard drug use and alcohol use, I got sober and the old songwriting inspirations kicked in again, luckily.

make a rough version when sober

Alcohol has definitely helped/contributed to making music, but drugs tend to work far better for artwork.

The other way around, I lose focus on what I'm doing. Weird, but it's just the way it is.

i'd say heroin brought out a lot of things that i couldn't articulate before whether it be words or the mood of a song. also the kind of life you have while on that among other things at most gives you something to write about. but i honestly regret touching anything outside of weed & social drinking.

I used to make music while hungover because mild depression and anxiety inspire me, but a bad shroom trip ruined hangovers for me.

no. i like to drink but i make music despite that, not because of it. drugs and alcohol just get in the way if you use too much.

Great post.

All drugs did is make me aware there's a ceiling to be reached with human feeling. It's hard to find pleasure in anything after that never mind being creative.

weed and booze absolutely helps when I'm making beats

I write lyrics while drunk.

Nothing like a sad, drunken stream of consciousness to help get the creative juices going.
