Some feminists are hateful, misandrist and pretty much crazy. Not all of them are. You only hear about the worst ones nowadays because they're the most vocal.

Then there's also the fact that many feminists nowadays are no longer fighting for equal opportunities, but for equal respect — which is much more subjective and harder to evaluate. Issues like catcalling, the representation of women in media etc will always be problematic because they're perceived completely differently depending on the person. Sometimes both sides do have valid arguments.
