Much better than Ziggy Stardust.

Mostly it's just much less consistent in quality.

>> No.53214685

Is anyone else really sad that Bowie pretty much lost his younger voice after Diamond Dogs? Not that his croon is awful or anything, but I feel like he was a lot more versatile vocally in his glam days.

whats songs are filler on ziggy?

>> No.53214757

Ziggy is an album with high-quality filler.

Aladdin Sane is an album where great tracks are interspersed with painfully bad tracks.

Which one is "better" is a matter of priorities. Chiefly, consistency of quality vs. peak quality.

Soul Love
It Ain't Easy
Star
Hang on to Yourself

>>53214757
No tracks on Aladdin Sane are outright bad though.
Plus, it's just generally better. Better production, better backing band, more ambitious etc.

I don't think so. "Heroes" has some of his best vocal performances imo.

None of those are filler. Just because they're not singles doesn't mean they don't advance the plot or help flesh out what's going on, and if they don't they're interesting as fuck like It Ain't Easy.

>>53215537
I love that album to death, but She Shook Me Cold is a bit filler-ey.

>> No.53217930

>>53216328
I don't know honestly. The lyrics on it are pretty good actually, it's just a bit like It Ain't Easy where you remember it being generic until you give it a relisten.

>>53214757
Alladin Sane would be fantastic if some songs that fit the theme replaced The Prettiest Star and Let's Spend the Night Together.

>> No.53217959

>>53217870

Nah. She Shook Me Cold is great.

I don't know, the way he sings, it's like he's drunk and bleeding. It's such a dirt song. I think it fits perfectly the crazy side of the album, along with The Width Of A Circle, Running Gun Blues and All The Madmen.

Only half of Station to Station is any good though and Hunky Dory is trash.

His top 5 is:
1. "Heroes"
2. Low
3. Aladdin Sane
4. Scary Monsters (and Super Creeps)
5. The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars

Well true, I felt that on an initial listen, thinking it was partially about violence but as just a song about straight up sex it feels out of place. Black Country Rock would've had this problem had it not been for the vocals changing and giving off this impression of a place that slowly changes you.
Also, what cover do you usually use? I feel like the original cover is a lot more iconic, but I find myself using the U.S. Cover a lot more because I feel like it fits the music more and lets people know what they're in for.

>>53218041
I have no fucking clue at what half of Station to Station you checked out at. Did TVC15 really rub you that wrong that you hated the entire last half of the album and completely ignored Bowie's godlike vocal control on Wild is the Wind?

>> No.53218287

>>53218073

I do use the original cover, i think it maybe doesn't fit the album sound, but it fits Bowie.

Man Who Sold the World era Bowie is one of the best bowies. He's been up for queen of /mu/ at least twice now.
