Is digital lo-fi a thing? I mean like deliberately making your music sound like low bit rate MP3s.Pic somewhat related.
this was uploaded in 2013 but it's skinny screen and 240p, so yeah...it's "a thing" as they say...
Yeah, it's a big thing in the underground. I have 400 gigs of digital lofi in flac.
>>53142061https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9pl-f5S5zaQforgot the link, shit, if anyone knows the last song tell me dude cuz it's hella sick but impossible to find, it starts at 4:00
>>53142109Thank you! "I don't like" probably also fits into this category as it has some pretty decent production values but the shit tier mastering makes it sound like one of those schoolyard MP3s that you used to trade through bluetooth back in the day.
Bumping for discussion
>>53141986Car Seat Headrest's "Twin Fantasy" has some digi-lo-fi drums in some sections, and I have the album on Flac from Bandcamp so I didn't convert one of those YouTube videos.
>>53142070I've got 3 terabytes of 60's pre-ambient800 gigs of live recordings of this local band called the fuckerfucks. They played only 2 shows before breaking up but I had 11 redundant recording rigs all recording flac which I then layered over one another for 25,000 kbps bitrate.8 terabytes of the beatles. No not THOSE beatles, the new beatles. They haven't recorded an album yet and technically they're not really a band yet but they're indie-gospel-post-funk-punk style is going to be huge when you guys hear their stuff in about 5 years.4 petabytes of the Ethiopian Free Jazz wave that occurred in 1973 in a town called Wenji Gefersi.18 terabytes of sound check recordings from the mid 90's band LFO. They only scored a hit with "I like girls (who wear abercrombie and fitch)" but they were way ahead of their time. That's just my C: drive. I have 41 drives.

Grave Babies, one of those lo-fi goth bands, uses really lo-fi/primitive synthsand going along with the goth theme, I know a lot of newer deathrock bands like the sound of outdated electronics

>>53141986James Ferraro likes doing this a lot. Check out his BODYGUARD and BEBETUNE$ projects, as well as his original idea for Far Side Virtual (which was to have the files be blasted off a cell phone, like 64kbps ringtones). Also, chec out DJ Rozwell's NONE OF THIS IS REAL. It's a lo-fi electronic-psychedelic album where the tracks are meant to be played in shuffle and crossfaded by about 5 to 6 seconds. Pretty cool, and even comes with an "expansion pack".

Vessel and Ossia from Young Echo started a label recently. They released a single in 8kbps on it.
>>53144793this is some stale copypasta.. Attests to how fucking new the majority of /mu/ is if they haven't seen this before
>>53144883Everyone knows that album m8
>>53144793the gayest pasta
>>53145872I always enjoy it. It's not really over used or anything. If anything it has aged well, like a fine wine.
>>53145059>his original idea for Far Side Virtual (which was to have the files be blasted off a cell phone, like 64kbps ringtones).did he ever end up recording the album this way? i'd be interested to hear it
Occasionally I explore abandoned chat programs and 'virtual worlds' from the 90s (not Worlds) and pretty much all the audio is compressed in something like 16-96kbps. There's a few that have original music that's crazy digital lo-fi. Not to mention all the 16kbps versions of Beck and Portishead tracks. Here's a few good oneshttp://vocaroo.com/i/s1k2kbk6gcy1http://vocaroo.com/i/s0BrJ6zapoYvhttp://vocaroo.com/i/s0BrJ6zapoYv
anyone got that 8kbps version of NMH?
