What are /mu/'s favorite Animal Collective songs?

I understand that Spirit They're Gone, Spirit They've Vanished and Merriweather Post Pavilion are popular here, but what about songs in particular?

Grass from Feels has always been my favorite.

grass is the first anco song that really hit me and it has a lot of feels tied to it. I can't find it on youtube anymore but avey did this solo lil acoustic set in france a few yrs ago, go find the 2005 campus in diretto show. his performance of grass is fucking amazing

but these are my favorite anco songs:
>good lovin outside
>april and the phantom
>grass

My favorites right now are Infant Dressing Table, Derek, Doggy, and Two Sails on a Sound. My answers for this change constantly, but these are what I've been really into lately. I'm just now realizing how subtly great all of these are. Especially the more relaxed stuff on HCTI. Still need to listen to Prospect Hummer, Holinndagain, Danse Manatee, and STGSTV.

>>53098468
Appreciate the link. If there's one thing that makes Grass, it's the drumming. Such a simple beat and yet it fits perfectly with the song to make it one of my favorites off Feels.

>I'm just now realizing how subtly great all of these are
thats the best, it's how good lovin outside became one of my favorites. a lot of people kind of gloss over the second half of sung tongs but it's actually really great.

isnt whaddit i done about sex? or maybe im thinking of a different song

>> No.53098750

>>53098670
Not sure if Whaddit I Done is about anything, I just love how it completes the album with the kind of droney background vocals it has. The opening to it puts people off though and a lot of people get annoyed with what it does with voice effects. I still like it a lot though.

>> No.53103433

>>53103384

Because i don't like them.

Fuck you.

Nah i think CS is pretty good. Doggy is my favorite like everyone else if it helps you sleep at night

>>53103380
I didn't mind the production too much. I really liked Moonjock and Anamita, and a couple in between but the rest is really lackluster and forgettable. Oh and "Wide Eyed" is hilarious

>> No.53103441

>>53103380
Bad production, weak songwriting, and awkward hooks. The whole thing felt forced and directionless, and was the first point in Animal Collective's discography where they didn't seem to be moving forward. It felt like a cheap, plastic, uninspired version of "Strawberry Jam." But whereas "Strawberry Jam" felt natural and wondrous, "Centipede Hz" just felt cheap and plastic, and unrewarding. There are a few great songs on "Centipede Hz," but even those songs aren't executed as well as they could have been due to bad production.

>> No.53103486

If I had to choose one favorite Animal Collective song for the rest of my life, it would most definitely have to be Did You See the Words?

Strong contenders: Kids on Holiday, Winter Wonder Land, Derek, No More Runnin, Daily Routine, Grass, Leaf House & Bees

I adhere the contrarian opinion that the mid-section of their discography is the best

>> No.53103724

>>53103441
I agree with this. Its main theme is that it's presenting a sort of cluttered pop sound, which gives it no direction by default. While it has plenty of good songs, these are all easy to overlook because they don't mix well. Strawberry Jam does something similar but works because all of the songs unique parts are pushed to their extremes, and almost seeming gimmicky at times though still working out.

New Town Burnout is a song I love from CHz, and while the transition to it from Monkey Riches is good, Monkey Riches itself is pretty poor and drags on. Though not totally similar, SJ has a transition from For Reverend Green to Fireworks, and it's fantastic. You can tell it's the high point of the album from the emotion in the songs and the heavy atmosphere, but with CHz it's just a blur. It's a good album, but a poor AnCo album.

>"I Just Called to Say I Love You" is a song written, produced and performed by Stevie Wonder.[2] It was one of Wonder's most commercially successful singles.

They didn't put that part in the album version because of copyright issues. I like the album version more anyways.
