I had Linkin Park, Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Rihanna, Gwen Stefani, Billy Talent and all other type of shit on my iPod. I wasn't really into pop-music but since everyone was listening to it I felt obliged to put it on my mp3 player. You know, the first contact with music is usually the typical shit I listed depending on your generation and you don't even realize that there is other stuff out there. My younger self would probably think that my older self has shit and a weird taste in music even most things I listen to nowadays aren't even that outlandish for /mu/'s standards.

Muse, the Killers, and Coldplay were my big three.

Coldplay went to shit with Mylo Xyloto, for Killers, I never really got into whatever came after Sawdust, and with Muse, I just left Resistance kind of disappointed.

I'll still buy whatever Muse puts out next, since supposedly they're trying to kick the style they used in 2nd Law, but the other two bands are basically dead to me.

Also a shit load of metal in middle school, but I try to forget those times.

>> No.53002522

I am pretty sure there are forums out there that would consider /mu/'s taste pretty pleb as well. It depends on the community I guess. Maybe in 10 years when we moved on to other places to discuss music we will look back at our experience with /mu/ and laugh at how fucking stupid we were.

Yeah this, thinking back to 6th grade makes me cringe. So much shitty taste and emos with their god-awful music. I am fucking glad I never gave enough of a fuck to participate in all this shit. Luckily I was unaware of all that at that age or I would have loathed going to school every single day

I would definitely be ashamed of how much I give a fuck about people calling the beatles a boy band. I will also be ashamed of all the time I argued with people about silly nonsense like which album is better or why an album is bad or why an artist is overrated. All these things are so completely pointless. The purpose of /mu/ should be to shitpost and take nothing seriously.

I was really into the emo and screamo scene back in the mid 2000s. I loved Bright Eyes (still do), Cursive, Pavement, Sunny Day Real Estate, Taking Back Sunday, Thursday, My Chemical Romance, Senses Fail, Funeral For a Friend, Hawthorne Heights. Basically, I loved anything from Victory Records.

not the same guy you replied to but yeah, even nowadays when friends come over and I listen to music they mock it. They are huge fucking plebs and unironically listen to dubstep and music that needs a DROP and BASS (their words, not mine).

They think this is elevator music:

I get it, people have different tastes but it's hilarious how narrow their taste is that they can't even listen to anything that doesn't involve WUBWUBWUBWUBWUB. They don't have to like what I like but I don't constantly remind them either that I'm not interested in their music.
