Depends on what you're listening to. Lots of djent is pretty shit. If I had to recommend a couple albums I'd suggest Altered State by TesseracT and The Mountain by Haken. As for what I enjoy about it, some of it has some great atmosphere. And most of the songs with super extended structure have some pretty great crescendos. The stuff I reccomended is either really atmospheric or in the case of a couple of the songs on The Mountain, they'4e pretty much Godspeed levels of crescendocore. Though honestly, I really like it as I have a massive hard on for polyrhythms and unusual song structure

And I already dig Altered State, the only think I'm not a fan of is the chuggity chug guitars, but I'm hoping those are gone for the next album.

I personally think a lot of the djent "atmosphere" sounds so camp, even though I understand what they're aiming for. Bands like Anathema do the atmosphere so much better, if Tesseract took more influence from them for the clean sections I would love them more. So many djent bands just pull out the casio and play some backpambient behind the chugs for "depth".

I consider it djent because it utilizes lots of the markers of djent. It has the high level of technicality andlots of the songs utilize the "djent" chord fairly heavily. Though you're probably right, it's probably to prog metal than djent.
