Name one artist who is more perfect than Steven Wilson
>more perfectGo back to school
>>52901613He isn't even the best Wilson...
steven wilson makes cheesy as fuck prog
Mozart.
I can't>>52901626>le autism face
>>52901613his dad Brian
Peter Christopherson
>>52901648
>>52901639Dude he's like the least cheesy modern prog musician
>>52901613Reminder Wilson has more patrician taste than 90% og /mu/http://stevenwilsonhq.com/sw/playlist-archive/
Steve Winwood. Just look at that hair
>>52901613gucci mane
>>52903342maybe if you have shit taste lmaoit's all neo-neo-prog bullshit like it or not - not actually progressive or, you know, good
easy
>>52903365>Interstellar OSTkek
>Name one artist more fedora than Steven Wilson
>>52901613how can you be perfect and make shit remixes of albumshow can you be perfect and make lame ass tame ass prog
virtually every other human being on earth?
>>52903444Do you even know what actual neo-prog is? Retard
>>52903524>shit remixesLmao you know shit about production if you believe that >>
>>52905293I don't need to go to bullshit mixing school to tell that his mixes are tinny garbage
embarrassing prog to listen to like the work of Devin Townsend Fedoracore at its finest
>>52903444>>52903524>>52903599Fantano, please stop samefagging
>>52905619I actually liked Raven but the rest of his stuff puts me to sleep
>>52901613If I'm generally not into prog, is there any chance that I'll like Porcupine Tree or his solo work?
>>52905694Try Lightbulb Sun, it's a great album and not too proggy.
>>52905694Yes. Honestly Steven is barely prog, he just has a lot of long songs. The only album of his that is truly "prog" is The Raven.Check out Lightbulb Sun if you like poppy alt-rock, Insurgentes if you're depressed and Fear of a Blank Planet if you like metal (but it's still not that heavy). And Sky Moves Sideways if you want psychedelia.
>>52905694Try Stupid Dream and Lightbulb Sun, they are basically prog pop, Also first 2 blackfield albums Or maybe No-man for art rock You might like insurgentes from Wilson solo work, it's basically post punk with shoegaze ambient and post rock
>>52901613Any art composer
Sufjans Stevens
Why do prog "purists "on /mu/dislike Wilson and claim he's not "real" prog musician? Every other prog community seems to love him
>>52901613Honestly, has there been a better British band in the last 20 years than Porcupine Tree and Coil? I can't think of any, maybe Radiohead
>>529058971. All prog purists dislike Wilson. He basically writes pop songs that are long, and doesn't wank for hours2. There are none of those on /mu/, you're getting them confused with indie douches, who think that anything longer than 7 minutes is "wankery".3. /prog/ threads here love Wilson, rightfully.
>>52905933Porcupine Tree are my favourite band but even then I think Radiohead are far above in terms of what they've achieved. PT would definitely be in the top few, you can't deny it.
>>52903468>>52905578Go back to your "feelsy" emo garbage or whatever shit is currently hyped on pitchfork fggots
>>52906001>implying people don't listen to Wilson for feels tooInsurgentes is fucking crushing man
>>52905897of course he's a real prog musician his music's just shit
>>52905964There was a pretty funny thread on progarchives when he talked shit about purists and revivalist prog like Transatlantic and Flower Kings http://www.progarchives.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=88744
>>52906094lol what a fucking hypocrite
>>52905984Radiohead are great, but Yorke hasn't made anything truly great since In Rainbows, Steven's work is very consistent
>>52906094Yeah that thread was awesome, I honestly wish I was in it a bit more because I 100% agree with what he said and I really, really, really love pissing off the old men on ProgArchivesObviously he kinda made an idiot out of himself when he went and made the Raven, but let's face it, he actually did really fucking well there, pretty much the best classic prog revival album ever.
>>52906143>Yorke hasn't made anything truly great since In RainbowsWrong
>>52906139That was long time ago >>52906149HCE is obviously going to be much less classic prog influenced, there are even supposed to be some electronic elements
>>52906001Steven has written a lot of feelsy stuff which makes him better than all modern prog artists
>>52906173>there are even supposed to be some electronic elements
>>52906170I think he's just thinking of albums, not songs.Of which there are many greats on TKoL.
>>52906173Yeah he definitely said Raven was a one-off, which is good because he would get so much shit if he did it again. Personally I think the new one will be a transitional album and might sound a bit messy stylistically But obviously he can still write good stuff even on his bad albums.Reading it again, he fucking nails it. Back when Transatlantic dropped Kaleidoscope I did a really edgy review of it saying pretty much the same shit, and I got a massive wave of idiots The review even got removed from PA because I called Stolt a talentless hack and some people complained.https://rateyourmusic.com/collection/Gallifrey/rating58287323>>52906198Also this, although there are tons of feelsy modern prog artists now. Prog is better when it's emotional, not wanky.
>>52901613Wilson's a pretty hit and miss artist in my opinion. Some of his work is great where he really captures the feel he's going for or has great musical ideas on display. Other times it's just really bland and cheesy to the point it's cringe inducing. So yeah, wouldn't exactly call him perfect.
