jam of a lifetime
>>52885033Yes OP, that's an album
>tfw deakin is probably slacking off at this point with the new album>tfw he's becoming depressed over it and how many people he's let down>tfw he would rather binge watch supernatural than work on the album
>>52885033oh how i've missed this meme
>>52885488it was less a meme but more of a way to signal a new anco thread back when /mu/ like anco
>>52885529Why does /mu/ have to be so mixed on them now? Just because CHz was only decent doesn't mean we shouldn't love the rest of their music...
jam of a lifetimei got into AnCo (slightly) last summer and im holding off from listening to them until winter passes by.
>>52885576I think all of the cool hxc anco fans have just been visiting /mu/ way less frequently, including me. threads used to always dwindle down to like a few specific people and you could tell by the pics they'd post + who would get on the tinychats someone would eventually create>mfw met my waifu in an anco thread>>52885606whaaat, sung tongs and spirit are prime winter albums. even mpp sounds fantastic when it's cold and dark
Lam of a jiftime
AnCo best artist of 2000's, t/f?If false, who is? I think they are.
>>52885665t, their discography is the most varied/unique/extensive and they still put out consistently interesting and good material
>>52885119thats my life
>>52885646i started listening to them in summer, so it's seasonal. Summertime clothes is something necessary too.
I've never seen them live, but they're having a dj set in NOLA next month, should I catch it?
>>52885920of course
>>52885529why is he so qt, bros?
are they ever going to make good music again?
>>52886097
>>52886140they always do >>52886097>tfw no more panda bear pic spammers
>>52886211you called
>>52886211i feel like the magic is gone man, i havent really liked the last releases (inb4 fantano drone xd) hz was ok. i would give my left nut for something like HCTI again
>>52886302that's a bummer, I fucking loved the new stuff. even slasher flicks was great for me although it took a bit for me to start to really like it>>52886273bae
will he ever put on the panda cap again, bros?
Does anybody else go in phases with AnCo? I haven't listened to them since like CHZ came out, but I listened to two Panda Bear albums today and most of the full length AnCo this week, and I'm still nowhere near done.I listened to them like all the time in college, I just kind of phased them out or something for a while I guess. Also I totally forgot how fucking good Feels is. I couldn't pick a favorite from them, though.
le meme of a lifetime :o)
>>52886345:^)
>>52886140I think so. I think "Centipede Hz" is an album they learned from. Avey and Panda have both put out good music since then. I'm excited to hear what they do next. I think we're in for something great.
I listened to "Campfire Songs" yesterday, and the whole experience was amazing. I felt like "Queen In My Pictures" was leading me through this mysterious hidden world that not everyone gets to see, and then on "Doggy," the overall feel of the song moved me to tears. And "De Soto De Son" is easily in my five favorite AnCo songs. Amazing fucking album. I'd forgotten how great it is.
>>52886408>>52886345i envy you two so muchi really cant into the new stuff, i enjoyed down there but thats pretty much it.i guess im never gonna hear something like early anco again, why even live
>>52886484I've never heard Campfire Songs, but heard it wasn't very good. You've convinced me to give it a listen.
>>52885033life of a jamtime
>>52886211hello you called
>>52886211my waifu
Are they working on a new album?
>>52887136The most I know is that in October, Avey Tare said they'd start writing it in November.
>>52887213OOOOH
>>52885033Mikey go to bed
>>52885033The list goes on
how do i like Slasher Flicks??
>>52886484I love De Soto De Son so much
>>52885576>tfw listened to CHz a few days ago and it was better than I remember
>>52889096You think it's good.
>>52889096u dont
>>52889178I wish I could feel the same. CHz has only gotten worse for me over time, which is a shame because I dug it when I first heard it, and didn't understand why people were being so hard on it. But I see the truth now, and it hurts.
>>52885576It's not just CHZ dude, It's literally everything since mpp/fbk/oddsac. The fame scared them, and they aren't confident enough to pull it off anymore imo. There are a few good tracks here and there, but they mostly hit a wall. I really do hope they pull out of it, but I don't think they're the same people anymore.
>>52885665Yea, I'd definitely agree with that, but any niche says that about their band.
>>52890863I really love centipede but slasher flicks and grim reaper were kind of let downs.
>>52886408If anything, Slasher Flicks and Grim Reaper are just a better indication of their decline in quality. Those might have a few songs that are better than CHz, but none of them are as confident as the albums that preceded them.
>>52890932Yea, CHz is still the best out of the three, but there are moments in SF and GR that were probably as good. I was let down by all three. Avey just wants to go as chaotic and abrasive as possible, and Panda seems to have settled into good times lyricism, needless repetition, and static song progression. Maybe they were always like that, and the collaboration made it work, but I think Avey and Panda aren't as close as they used to be, so the balance is all skewed. I think Panda's success got to both Avey and Panda himself in different ways, but there's no way to know for sure. It can't be easy to be best friends but live in different countries with different lives.
>>52890863>>52890863They need to become a punk band or some variant punk genre band. It's the only hope
>>52891105I think they should cut the juvenile angst shit and go back to writing their songs like compositions. Panda seems to be trying, but he needs Avey, and Avey's stuck on this raw live sound kick that led to the pretty poor production of CHz and Slasher Flicks. Their best work was from HCTI to MPP imo, and everything in there has dramatic variations of dynamics, tonal progressions, timbres, and layering. Those are the things that seem to be lacking in their post-MPP releases. I think Avey's obsession with being cutting edge is distracting him from what made their strangeness work in the first place, which was basically just good traditional songwriting.
I like PBVSGR a lot. Did not care for Centipede Hertz. And I haven't given Slasher House a thorough enough listen, but it didn't catch my ear the first time. I think Panda Bear's pop success could possibly inspire him to experiment more with AnCo and give us something fresh with the rest of the guys, now that he has something to consistently get his pop fix out.
