Thoughts on Death Cab /mu? Favorite album/song and whyI love "We Have the Facts and We're Voting Yes"
Transatlanticism is essential teenage feel-core
PlansWhat Sarah Said
>>52803158That's my favorite too! I just on it on vinyl. They're one of my all-time favorite bands. I also got to see them with The Magik Maigk Orchestra.
>>52803196You liked Plans? Mannnnn that album sucked
>>52803211Oh, and my favorite Death Cab for Cutie song is either No Joy In Mudville or Stability (screw Stabile Song)
>>52803230The first half is pretty decent and I don't even like the record as a whole. Not him btw
Honestly, my favorite songs of theirs is "Talking Bird" and "You Can Do Better Than Me" off of Narrow Stairs. And yeah, they are essentially teenage feel-core.
>>52803244Fairs I guess, Narrow Stairs was pretty dope tho
>>52803251Talking Bird is sweet
>>52803251Plans -- on is teenage-core. Before is legitimately thoughtful Emo genius.
>>52803254Long Division, Talking Bird, and Grapevine Fires are highpoints in their late career.
>>52803158I listen to this every new years day.Haven't listened to anything of theirs past trans. though, kinda grew out of it them I guess. That's kind of lame to read, tbh.
such great heights
>>52803385Listen to We Have The Facts and tell me you've grown out of them.
>>52803230Plans had some great moments, Brothers on a Hotel Bed is one of their best songs.
>>52803423maybe on youtube so It wont scrobble lmao
>>52803447you´re the worst kind of human being
>>52803648Not me, but I kind of agree
>>52803447Wow, you're a perfect asshole.
Loved the drums in the early albums https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dmyaKpp6xIM
I listened to Narrow Stairs a few weeks ago for the first time in several years, that album is a lot better than I remembered it being.>>52803442I was gonna say that. Plans was the first album of theirs that I heard/fell in love with so I guess a part of me will always love it even while recognizing its flaws. Brothers on A Hotel Bed is probably my favorite Death Cab song tbh, I really love how sparse and atmospheric it is. I have a 7" single of I Will Follow You Into the Dark that has a live version of Brothers... as the B-Side and it's one of my most loved and cherished posessions
>>52803917Ben Gibbard is fucking excellent drummer. All of the best Indeh songwriters were drummers first except Isaac Brock, but he's so rhythmic that it doesn't matter.

The new album's called Kintsugi http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/death-cab-for-cutie-new-album-title-20150112
>>52804670Do you REALLY think we don't already know that?
>>52804670
>>52804670Ooh and it has a release date. Same day as the new Sufjan album. I wonder which of those albums I'll end up liking more. :/
Facts is definitely my favorite album, with Something About Airplanes close behind. I really enjoy their newer stuff too. I mean Codes and Keys wasn't as good as Narrow Stairs but it wasn't terrible. Pretty stoked to hear some new stuff though, I guess.Anyway my favorite song would probably have to be Bend to Squares. It's really hard for me to pick a real favorite because almost all of their songs make me feel really sad but Bend to Squares is just sonically so appeasing to listen to.
A while ago I wrote a review of Plans, I'm pretty happy with it if anyone wants to read it http://elirianspeakers.tumblr.com/post/62823414900/album-review-plans-by-death-cab-for-cutie
Song - What Sarah Said Album - Transatlanticism
>>52805341Nice review dude! Can't say I agree with you, but as you say, music is subjective.
>>52805567I was gonna start a music review blog but got lazy with it and only wrote one other review
>>52805631Would you ever do reviews for unsigned bands? I got some buddies with some killer tunes.
>>52804943If I could consider side two of Facts one song, that would be my favorite. As it stands, the best stand-alone songs are on Airplanes with Bend To Squares being the my favorite on there. Unfortunately there's a lot of songs on Airplanes dragging the album down as a whole.
>>52803158bump
>>52805653I mean that could be fun, although its not something I'm especially serious about and I have absolutely zero existing readership or reputation so I doubt it would really help all that much haha.
although only sideways related, i'll always have a soft spot for this album
>>52804689great cover
>>52808465Might as well give it a shot. We (our recording group) have had bloggers review our stuff before and it's gone over well.
>>52809822This album will always have a soft spot in my heart. One of a few albums I will never get sick of
>>52810122Then yeah man send me a message on tumblr I guess!
>>52811081Gotcha man
>>52811081Are you still active? I only see two reviews
>>52809822But this album is pretty neat. It's like some kind of proto-Passion Pit.
>>52811614No not really. Like I said in this post >>52805631 I kind of stopped because I couldn't think of what to review (since there's so much music journalism on the internet I didn't wanna fall into the trap of just parroting pitchfork reviews)
What is the best way to into Death Cab For Cutie? I knew A Lack of Color when I was in 9th grade, shit made me feel so hard. Still makes me feel/nostalgia. But that's about the extent of my knowledge of them. Should I start with Transatlanticism or go with We Have The Facts?
Title and registration has some great lyrics
This was in the comment section of the full Transatlanticism album on youtube. Which one of you autistic fuckers was it?
Something About Airplanes is actually a decent album. It reminds me of the best aspects of 90s Built to Spill mixed with early Arcade Fire.Like any other musically literate person I dislike everything else they ever did.
>>52803158Music for teenage girls.
>>52803158I used to be into them a couple of years ago. Can't really stand them now, Transatlanticism is exactly what >>52803183 describes. Grapevine Fires is still a solid track though
I don't care what anyone says. Starting with Trans, they started getting better and better and better. Love modern DCFC.
>>52813773I am a music student at a top 10 music school and I can assure you, you are wrong. Stability EP, Forbidden Love EP, We Have The Facts And We're Voting Yes, Photo Album, and Transatlanticism are all 8/10 and up you moron.
>>52815358I think you responded to the wrong post there lad
I really really wish Postal Service would come back for another album. Give Up was so hood
>>52803158Brothers on a Hotel BedThe whole album is so fucking beautiful though. So much happiness tied to it.
>>52809822one of the few perfect pop records
Facts is their best. Trans was their (seemingly inevitable) breakthrough. Narrow Stairs is miles better than Plans.
